But just look at Louis. Poetry in motion. Perfection punching.

Beautiful! His leverage was amazing. Tito fought a lot like Louis, but was slower and dumber. Louis was great at making adjustments when an opponent gave him trouble.

Louis and Arguello are neck and neck in terms power punching precision brilliance. Louis was a more explosive puncher because Louis had very fast hands. Arguello's handspeed was not par with Louis' and his overall combos weren't on par with Louis either. But that right hand Arguello had was pure poetry.

Tito didn't fight like Louis. Tito's style was actually closer to Arguello's than Louis'.

You could say that Tito was a poor man's Arguello, and then of course you have Corrales, who was a poor man's Tito.

If any modern-era fighter could be compared to Louis style-wise, probably the closest would be Tszyu. I think Tszyu's style was closer to Louis' than Tito's. But obviously, Tszyu wasn't a fraction as good as Louis.

I don't think Tito was dumb, per say.

He understood his style very well and I would say he got the most out of his talent.

He had power in both hands and good hand speed.

Always had a great sense of distance for his punches, as well as the ability to ADJUST the distance on his shots. He also had excellent punch selection, and made good use of the jab to set up his offense. That's good ring IQ right there. Obviously a far cry from Joe Louis and Alexis Arguello as far as great thinkers in the ring, but there was a lot of METHOD to Tito's madness.

Tito's main weakness was his footwork. Guys with faster feet were able to out maneuver him and this when he would struggle. He knew what to do, he would just struggle to do it against guys who could make those pivots and transitions with good speed of foot.

Trinidad was far from a dumb fighter. He's one of the most intelligent offensive fighters of the last 25 years.

    "One of?"

How many fighters are you considering and how are you determining that criteria?

Micky Ward had "one of" the best chins in boxing of the last 25 years.

I liked how tito used to swivel his left hook to change its range (see Reid fight). And somehow or another he still had power on it. It was amazing.

Nobody has mentioned JMM yet but his is one of the more aesthetically pleasing styles in recent memory. The perfect form he maintained, even as he traded punches and took shots, was remarkable.
