Name off some guys who deserve to be in the Hall, but aren't in. Some that come to mind: Julian Jackson Donald Curry Esteban DeJesus Rodrigo Valdez Michalczewski: I'm confused as to why Virgil Hill is the HOF but not DM. Not only does DM hold the all time light heavyweight defense record, but he beat the fuck outta Hill. Sloppy Joe is the Hall too, and personally I think DM was better than Calz as well. Diego Corrales: Bum ass Gatti made into the Hall for being exciting. Corrales won the best fight of all time, and was a MUCH better fighter than Gatti. Who else?
Chapo Escalera Fernando Vargas- Two time world champ, holds a win over a prime Winky Wright, classic fights with Trinidad and De La Hoya, and if GATTI is in, so too should El Feroz.
What about Hector Camacho?? I was not a fan of his antics and style but he was an excellent fighter in his prime.
Holy doesn't belong in this thread because when he's eligible he's obviously getting in. I'm talking about guys like Jackson, Curry, and Valdez who have been eligible forever and might not ever get in. I'm really surprised Jackson isn't in.
I think Sumbu Kalambay belongs. Ain't nobody who can convince me that fuckin Brian Mitchell was better than Kalambay or beat the same comp.
I don't think Michalczewski was better than Calzaghe at all especially with his horrible defense but he should be in if Hill is in, too.
"Pretty Boy" Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jnr! Just to mess up your thread...and get used to it, since every single time I make an argument, you accuse me of a Mayweather agenda....
I'm kinda shocked that you didn't make the arguement that Floyd is so great he should be inducted 2 months after retirement.
5 years. Only exception being if they die, then I think it can be sooner. So if you assassinate Floyd he can be in by next year.
The HOF is going to get extra fucked up in the coming years. Every fighter that fought on HBO or Showtime a few times will probably get in. I've heard Sergio Martinez called a sure fire HOF'er based on going 1-1 with Williams and beating Pavlik even though Kalambay and Jackson aren't in. I was reading another forum where they were seriously discussing whether Canelo had done enough already to be in already.
They hit their lowest point when they let Gatti in. As overrated as the Ginger currently is, he's a helluva lot better than Gatti.
Boxing Hall of Fame is FUCKED..... Guys like Ali, Duran, Leonard, Chavez, Whitaker, Jones, Floyd, Pacquiao....sure fire 1 ballot...easy...walk ins... Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson you discuss it but first ballot for sure... Trinidad, De La Hoya, Morales, Barrera, Tszyu, Mosley very close but first ballot..some even the second time around... Vargas, Martinez, Cotto, Quartey, Vitaly, Quartey, you have a discussion...mostly 2nd time around..
Wilfredo Vazquez Sr was a three division champ, 14 title defenses, most of them in the patio of his adversaries giving real meaning to the title of 'world champion'. Solid champion until he turned too old. He should be in the HOF.
Gatti was famous. He deserved to get in. He was involved in FOUR of Ring's fights of the year...very few fighters in history have matched that (I can only think of two others). So he was famous AND he was exciting plus he won titles in a few divisions.
The HOF is a joke. It's like the U.S. border situation where no one wants to be mean and tell people they don't belong. In other sports a recognizable name doesn't lock you up for the HOF.
The Ring had already lost its credibility by that time. Means nothing. They also had Margarito ranked #6 in P4P after he beat Cotto. Cotto had to slowly fight his way to the top ten ranking to the #6 spot and all it took Margarito was to beat him to jump from nothing to #6.
