    I'm definately on the Joshua-Bandwagon.

Whatever Fury did on Saturday night, I very much doubt he can defend successfully.

    Joshua will beat Fury.

It's all a matter of testing the chin and some more seasoning.

He doesn't need too much more seasoning. Tyson won the heavyweight title in just his second year as a pro at the tender age of 20. To hell with "seasoning".

Joshua is ready NOW!!! I don't have the patience to wait for another good heavyweight champion...they need to throw him into the mix immediately!!!!

I agree with Sly. Fury has no skill. NONE! Joshua should be ready for him this year.

if he does he lost to a big oaf with NO skill at all, thus making him an overhyped super bum. It would be hard to fit into fightbeat's realm of things...

Tyson Also Had like 18 Fights in his 1st YEAR as a Pro, Brother Sly...Whyte Will Be Joshua's 15th Fight in 2 Years...Given Tyson's STYLE & Out of the Ring Shenanigans, it BEHOOVED his Team to Fast Track his Ass to a Title Shot...

Joshua HASN'T Even Seen the 4th Round in a Fight, as of Yet...What he Needs MORE than Anything is ROUNDS...Put him in w/a TOUGH Bastard that AIN'T Going Anywhere, to Test Joshua's STAMINA and FOCUS...Does he Get Tired???...Does he get Reckless and Frustrated if he CAN'T Knock a Guy Out???...How Does he Cope w/Being the SHORTER Man???...What Happens when he Eats a FLUSH Shot from a Guy that Can Crack a Bit???...

Joshua SEEMS to Be the Goods, but Seasoning, ie., Getting Those FINAL Questions Answered, is the Last Step...If You Put Him Out There Toooooooooo Early, Maybe he Gets Sparked, LOSES Confidence and is NEVER the Same Again....Or, Maybe he's Like Lennox Lewis, Where Even a Loss WON"T Rattle his Self Belief...

Dude JUST Turned 26 & we All Know Heavyweights Mature LATER than Other Fighters...If REED were Matching Joshua, he'd Ramp the Competition Up in 2016, w/the Emphasis Being on ROUNDs and Varying STYLES...If that "O" is Still Intact this Time Next Year, then it's a Full On ASSAULT on the Division in 2017...

Conversely, the Time is NOW for Deontay Wilder...He's as Good as he's Going to Get, from a Technical Perspective and he's MORE than 30 Bouts Deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Into his Career...Even if he Has to Travel Overseas, Wilder Should Do WHATEVER it Takes to Get Fury in the Ring...

It is difficult to be a boxer.

It is not enough to beat your opponents, you also need to beat them in aesthetically pleasing manner. If you don't, it doesn't count, your opponent is just seen as crap.

Also, you can't rely on your talent, even though the sport mostly is about raw talent., that doesn't count either.

Or actually, you can, if your talent is a correct one, such as speed, power, chin or body coordination. If you are born with size, reach, ability to use your strength and win with that, it doesn't count.

Never mind that being big doesn't help anymore than being quick if you have nothing to go with it.

Aesthetic beauty, that is all that counts

I saw some of his highlights last week, very fast hands. Will keep a look out for him. He needs to fight more overseas.

Regarding the thread title, I'm not so sure. Fury's style could cause one, or both, problems.

Wlad was accustomed to being the taller guy with the longer reach so he could get away with things against smaller guys that he couldn't with Fury. Funny, throughout the entire fight I kept thinking that if Wlad fought Vitali he would have gotten his ass whupped. Wlad has always struck me as a guy terrified of getting hit and this fight proved it. Fury isn't that good, he's just big which he uses to his advantage.

Roy Jones accurately said several times that Wlad would be better served going to the body but he basically had no inside fighting skills. I agree with this. I couldn't see a prime Riddick Bowe losing to Wlad for this reason. I could certainly see Lemmon Lewis turning Wlad into Michael Grant 2.0 as soon as he punched him in the mouth.

It's a shame Wlad doesn't have the toughness Vitali showed against Lemmon.

I hear you, but several fighters struggle if you can match their best weapon.

Larry Holmes was in trouble against Carl Williams who could jab with him. According to many, he lost to Witherspoon for the same reason.

Lennox Lewis struggled with Mercer, also mainly because Mercer had as good a jab.

Ali had some trouble with Doug Jones and Ken Norton who were able to keep up with his movement, and so on.

Wlad, at 39, was in trouble as he met a guy who could match his combination of speed and reach.

And once again, I am not making excuses, Wlad lost fair and was the lesser man in the ring. It is just that struggling with a stylistically difficult opponent is not that uncommon

Very true about style matchups. The only difference is each of those guys struggled yet found a way to be competitive even if the decision went the wrong way.

If Fury lost on the scorecards it would have been a robbery and a huge blight on the sport much like Holyfield's "draw" againt Lemmon.

This is true. Also have to remember though that Wlad is 39, being older than Holmes&Ali in their Spinks fights and after more fights too. It could be that a younger Wlad would have found a way

I've been saying the same thing for ages. Joshua certainly looks the part going forward but we know absolutely fuck all about his abilities beyond being able to say with confidence that he can quickly spark out rubbish opponents.

With all due respect Feebs I think pretty much everybody has said the same thing. There's no denying he's an exciting prospect though.

No they aren't. There are people in this very thread claiming Joshua could be champion today.

That probably has something to do with the fact Tyson Fury is the current champion.

He can be. If he doesn't have a chin, he doesn't have a chin. No amount of "seasoning" would change that. He, however, has proven all of the other abilities to be a champion today.
