    Damn those numbers are disappointing.

I really expected at least 800,000 plus.

    Dear GGG Nutrider,

Neil (a fellow GGG fan) left out an important piece of info. Here's the complete quote from Glaser...

Here is the Canelo - Cotto PPV figure, and it barely broke 650,000 PPV buys!!! I know a certain writer reported a 900,000 PPV buy figure, the same reporter that wrote that GGG - Lemieux broke 150,000 buys, when in fact that fight in actuality did 97,000 buys. Who is feeding the writer tainted info, but lots of great food!!!"

That's more than 6x's the GGG fight.

Just going by my personal experience, Canelo isn't really anymore known than Golov. Of course most Hispanics know who he is, but many of them are casual boxing knows who ALSO have heard of GGG. But many mainstreamers also have no idea who Canelo is, and they obviously don't know Golov as well.

If these numbers are true, it dispels the myth of Canelo being some megastar, which is not the vibe I've gotten.

At the end of the day, he and Golov need EACHOTHER. HBO will pay Canelo to fight lesser fighters, but Golov is also paid well to fight lesser fighters. If a HUGE fight like Canelo-Cotto only did 650, then imagine how mediocre Canelo-Bradley PPV numbers will be.

Yeah, I don't think Ginger bitch can tell Golov to bend over and take it. Public PERCEPTION will be that Canelo is avoiding the fight, and the perception would be CORRECT cause he is.

Come in at your NATURAL weight (160) you freckled faggot.

    Dear GGG hater,

Canelo-Cotto numbers if true would be faaarrrrr more disappointing considering GB and Roc Nation expected 1.5 mil.

Just admit the truth, Canelo isn't a megastar. Is he more popular than Golov? Yes. Is the gap overwhelming? Maybe in Mexico it is, nowhere else.

BTW, nearly EVERY post I see of you nowadays is a shot at Golov. It's like 85% of your posts are aimed at Golov bashing.

I don't care THAT much about Golov to mention him on a daily basis. So you need to re-assess which one of us has the Golov obsession, cause it ain't me.

There are no megastars in boxing save for Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Cotto and Canelo are stars. Both have sold out shows as headliners (with tickets at full price not discounted prices) and both have had successful PPV shows.

GGG is not a star. He's an upcoming star but isn't there yet. He as the hype, but that's about it. He's as much of a draw as Terence Crawford at this point.

    Truth

No, Golov is MUCH better known in the mainstream than Crawford is at this point. You can't even call me a nut hugger on this one cause I'm a bigger fan of TC than I am of Golov. But sadly, NOBODY outside of Nebraska natives and hardcores known who Crawford is.

There's a number of casuals who have heard of Golov. Stephen A Smith provides a pretty big platform for sports fans on ESPN, and he manages to bring up Golov literally EVERYTIME he talks about boxing. Supposedly Golov was at Cowboy stadium a few weeks ago getting mobbed by fans. So obviously he's not as much of an unknown as you think.

Golov has gotten more mainstream exposure and is better known than Craw.

"However", ALLLL that changes if Crawford beats down Manny (which he will).

the question is, what would golovkin vs cotto have done PPV wise? my guess is around 400-500K minimum.

I could see it doing a comparable if not higher number if they provided it with the RIGHT promotion. Golov has charisma and can speak broken enough English to attract fans. Canelo has the personality of a wash cloth and speaks no English (which hurts him).

GGG/Lemieux, Canelo/Cotto. These fights just were not ppv fights, for me, for a few reasons:

    1. Not competitive on paper.
    2. Undercards weren't strong enough to make up for #1.
    3. Not premier matchups in their division.

Canelo is not afraid of GGG. Don't be surprised if that fight happens. However, it really shouldn't happen next, but it could. It will take a request to the WBC to give them more time. If that happens, the WBC might not grant it. It will depend on the $. Both fighters have decent other options with Quillin, Lee/Saunders, Jacobs...guys like that. But, everyone would rather fight Canelo than GGG. More $ and better chance to win.

Which brings me back to how stupid Rosado was to move up and fight GGG when he had a mandatory shot at the junior middle title, haha.

quillin and jacobs arent options and it seems lee/saunders winner is in line to fight the winner of that PBC matchup.

If those numbers are true....Canelo vs. GGG won't happen anytime soon......even after "beating" Cotto...Canelo vs. GGG...will do about the same 500-600K....difference is that Canelo is not a big enough start to take 25 million....

Even though GGG is very popular with hardcore fans he can still go further in becoming more popular with mainstream fans. What they need to do is have a big showcase card first where they fight opponents on the same card. Put them both in with good opponents but not top level guys.

Then have Canelo and GGG fight on the next card. Make it happen.
