Weidman's main advantage was the same that Chavez Jr had. He's a large light heavyweight that used modern weight cheating to bully true middleweights. Hes a good wrestler and super strong and that was enough to beat old men with no wrestling backgrounds.

Of course Rockhold should've been favored, he's the better athlete and more talented fighter and is equally big as Weidman. Both guys also had to drop a ton of weight for the fight. Weidman was only 200 pounds in the cage.
