I really think this is all a bit embarrassing for cage fighting.

A ten year undefeated champion getting sparked in 13 secs by a rough puncher, another "killer" champion looking rather chumpish and getting G&P by a dude who frankly is slow as molasses. And this "champ" throws the most retarded spinny kick ever seen which starts his demise at the hands of molasses-boy.

    It ain't good fellas.

Striking skills in MMA are really poor, McGregor included.

I don't see it that way at all. To call mccgreger striking poor is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. His feet and hands are thrown with pin point accuracy. Weidman fucked by throwing that kick, but he is very good with his hands. Aldo's time was up. Anyone would have went down with that punch.

there was nothing fluky about it. Aldo rushed in and left himself open. McGregor saw his opportunity, reacted quickly and took advantage.

Aldo was considered P4P and rushed in like an idiot and got KTFO in a bit over 10 secs...

So either Aldo was a scrub all along, or he was so mentally discombobulated by McGregor's smacktalk that he decided the only way to win was to stick his chin in the air and flail Hail Marys against a bigger puncher.

    Neither is a good outcome.

Cage fighting is a joke. I fail to see the appeal.

There's a double standard when it comes to brute fighting.

Imagine if Canelo-Cotto had ended in 13 seconds. Would have been a fuckin outrage in calling the fight a farce.

This ends in 13 seconds and cage fans are creaming their pants.

I'm sorry, to each his own, but I can't get into this joke of a sport. I had more fun last night watching the Figueroa-DeMarco fight than I would have had ordering this bullshit.

    That's what I don't fathom at all.
Everyone knows about McGregor's straight-left and he has a long-reach.
WTF does an alltime P4P'er go running in with a straight right within seconds of the opening bell?

    Something clearly not right here.

His head was scrambled even before taking the walk to the Octagon. McGregor did a number on him in more ways than one.

    Ummm....

"As of August 10, 2015 he is #1 in official UFC pound-for-pound rankings[9] and ranked the #1 Featherweight in the world by Sherdog.[10] In the ten years from November 26, 2005 until November 26, 2015, Aldo never lost an MMA fight, thus marking an entire decade of invincibility, with 5 years ruling as a world champion (18 fights, 10 title fights, 9 title defenses)"

What was Aldo thinking when he decided to make that opening attack. To make McGregor think his aim was to try and land his right hand only but not expect his left hook? Risky and ultimately costly move.

Maybe he thought McGregor wasn't expecting such a move so early.....and he (McGregor) is probably more surprised than anyone.

Did Aldo not expect to be tagged. I think McGregor is that bit quicker than given credit for.

McGregor may have been surprised but he certainly had his wits about him.

Why is McGregor still not getting the repect he deserves? 50% of people on sherdog are still calling him Connor...

Weird fight. Aldo fought like an idiot, but credit to Mcgregor for taking advantage of it. Even if im not really a fan, i feel a bit sad for Aldo. Dude was a dominant champ for so many years, and he'll only get rebembered as the guy that got sparked in 10 seconds

The punch was perfectly timed in the right place. McGregor couldn't have connected any better.

UFC people cannot take punches. Holly Holm is a featherfisted boxer and she was rocking Rousey with every straight left she connected on. Imagine if Ann Wolfe or even Laila Ali was hitting her...let alone.....laugh..cough...splutter...Floyd Mayweather.

Honestly this sounds like another version of "kids these days".

UFC fighters cant punch, have no chin, etc. yah whatever, theyve been training their whole lives, and obviously due to the nature of the sport they have different techniques. When there's not JUST punches to think about, of course the throwing technique will seem weird compared to boxing, since there's a little bit of 'takedown D' involved in every movement. But with tiny gloves, and a good clip on the chin like that, I dont think many boxers would have reacted differently.

    Very true.
Older guys tend not to 'get' UFC / MMA at all.

And they forget, guys in the UFC wear 'gloves' that weight 4oz less than boxers = lots more knockdowns / knockouts

Yes, all the good chins go to boxing. I remember Ray Mercer, who has one of the all time great chins, falling flat on his face after a head kick.

Different sports kids. The athletes are the same but the sports are not.

Whether fans like it or not, this is a guy that's finished Poirer, Mendes and now Aldo in consecutive fights. He is the real deal.
