Arreola has been in much worse shape. His face actually looks skinny compared to his last fight.

Great call. Figueroa is a 140 pounder with no defense.

We'll never see Fig's fat ass at 140 again.

Moving forward, I assure you he's a welter.

Really? Wasn't he at 135lbs before the Burns fight?

My point still stands, though.

He couldn't even make weight for Burns. He was 141. Last night he was 151.

He doesn't look like he couldn't though. To me Haymon fighters too often get away with this shit. Quillin also for a while. He needs to set them in place every once in a while.

I was joking about such a matchup. And I would agree with you that he's not a step up for Spence.

Figueroa was hurt to the body in the 11th. DeMarco didn't follow up on it.

I thought I saw that too! And not only did DeMarco not follow up, it was at that point that he went back against the ropes.

Figueroa vs Spence makes a lot of sense. It should sell in Texas and Fig can take the bigger share which would probably be more than he'd make getting sacrificed to anyone else decent at welter. If he wins he can cash out again against Garcia or Thurman.

For Spence it's a name opponent and a pretty convenient opportunity to thrash a guy in a hometown showdown.

Fig would deserve a bigger share for fighting Spence. He'd be one with hospital bills to pay.

Seriously speaking however, as a Spence fan I'd like to see him in with somebody better quality than Figueroa. Omar would be NOTHING but a "name" on Spence's resume. I'd rather see Spence fight Alergi to be honest. Algeri is a name also, and he's a better fighter than Figueroa. Plus, if Spence stopped Algeri he'd be able to say he did something Provo, Pac, and Conman were unable to do.

I get that Spence-Figueroa would sell well in Texas, but it's a mismatch. I thought Spence detractors were tired of seeing him in mismatches.

Spence-Algieri could be made but the Yuppie has turned him down before and has gone on the record to saying he wants a rematch with Khan or a fight vs the Garcia-Guerrero winner. I may be mistaken.

Spence is installed as the number 2 contender for Brook's IBF belt behind Bizier, and since Bizier seems likely to get his shot, Sadam Ali, Lamont Peterson, and Diego Chaves are there as possible fights.

Of those 3, I'd like to see Spence matched up with Lamont Peterson who arguably holds a win over Garcia, and we know he beat Khan. Porter is also there but I don't believe he's all that into the idea of facing Spence. Diego Chaves I wouldn't mind seeing, but he's already been beaten by Thurman, had a draw with Bradley that I thought he lost, and he was DQd against Rios.... Meh. Ali is a sleeper but unproven at the elite level as well.

Spence may have to move up to 154 lbs to get his first legit shot at the title.

I would actually LOVE to see Spence-Ali. All the top welters see those two as high risk/low reward, but thanks to fuckin politics that one ain't happening. Ali is with Oscar.

Spence may as well move to 154 if he can't get a shot at the presumed Brook-Khan winner, since it appears those two will indeed fight at Wembley for the belt... I KNOW Khan wouldn't fight Spence, and I don't get the impression that Brook wants that fight either, so regardless of the winner, he should probably get on with it because I don't ever the see the likes of Thurman, Garcia, or even Porter facing him.

Jermall Charlo would be a natural fight since they're both from Texas, and they could have that fight in Dallas or Houston. Though I hear Charlo will soon be moving to middle.

Spence is pretty close friends with both Charlo brothers. I wouldn't hold my breath on them fighting.

He'll be at 154 one day. He has a pretty big frame for a welterweight.
