I'm becoming quite a big fan (yeah, im a little surprised too). Any other fans? If so what films are your favourites? Recently I've watched The Unforgiven, Gran Torino, Dirty Harry, Bridges of madison country and liked them all.

  2. I'm a huge Clint Eastwood fan. Why should being a fan of him be surprising? The dude was badass!

    My Favourite Eastwood films:

    For a few dollars more
    Fistful of Dollars
    Good bad Ugly
    Magnum Force
    Dirty Harry
    Unforgiven
    Pale Rider
    High Plains Drifter
    Any which way but loose

    Best Clint Eastwood line:

"I know what you're thinking punk. You're thinking did he fire six shots or only five? Tell you the truth I forgot myself in all of this excitement. But seeing that this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well do ya...punk?!?"

    bad boy!

"[Takes gun out]..Smith and Wesson and me"

My first Eastwood film was Two Mules For Sister Sarah with a young hot Shirley Maclaine. I was hooked. I followed it with Coogan's Bluff, then followed it with a double bill of Dirty Harry and The Enforcer. High Plains Drifter watched it on the tv as well as the disturbing The Beguiled and Play Misty For Me. After that I pretty much watched everything Clint Eastwood starred in except for that recent one about baseball.

    The baseball movie was good

  11. That was upsetting as are most Eastwood-directed films. He loves to upset his audience.

The dude has been a huge star and he is JUST getting into him. That's like someone saying Im just getting into deniro and becoming a fan. It's funny to me.

I am a huge fan. IMO he is underrated as an actor (he is among the greats in that) but a bit overrated as a director.

The great misconception about Eastwood is that he "plays the same role every time out" or "just is Eastwood". That is not true at all.

Eastwood is not actually a super-intellectual prisoner, nor a racist cop with moral values, nor an old villain short of money and questioning his pride, nor a photographer, nor a western guy portraying himself as a preacher with lots of inner wisdom, nor a man with no name who has supernatural shooting abilities and mysterious motives. Nor are these guys all alike.

Eastwood simply makes them all believable. He gives them the emotions and the flesh to make them alive. He can be intelligent, stupid, wise, hot-head and you always believe that he is himself.

That is what acting skill is all about. It is not just making funny faces or portraying anything in every film genre.

As a director, he is solid but no more than that. He rarely says anything very new with his films and makes his points a bit too obvious. Still, you are rarely disappointed after seeing his flicks

dunno he just never appealed to me. It was only after listening to his 'inside the actors studio' that my interest was piqued. He was much more interesting than I expected.
