Eddie Redmayne (great actor, but can't tell if he's a man or a woman or both) plays Einar Wegener / Lily Elbe who underwent gender/sex-change operation in the 1920s <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/d88APYIGkjk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> One to disgust and shock Sly, I think....
Unless Redmayne pulls an upset over DiCaprio, this film is nothing but an agenda pushing vehicle, a blatant propaganda film in a year where Caitlyn Jenner was anointed as 'Woman of The Year'. It got only so-so reviews and was a box office flop (like all the films in this genre that Hollyweird keeps shoving down our throats regardless).
word. The academy is dying to award it I'm sure but they also know that if they do, our suspicions about their agenda will be suspicions no longer.
Thing is, this is 'Crossdressing-Cheating'. At least Hoffman had to work for it in 'Tootsie'. Jared Leto and Eddie Redmayne are 1/2-way there by their build, looks, facial bone-structure.
The big difference with 'Tootsie' is that Hoffman's character was a straight actor who dressed as a woman as a means to get a job. He was not a transvestite at all.
