Of course Cotto wiped out Martinez and Martinez beat Pavlik.....but the size difference here would be RIDICULOUS! It'll look like man vs boy. Pavlik of the Taylor fights walks through Cotto like a hot knife through butter.
The only question here is, who would be passed out longer after the fight, Cotto from the fight or Pavlk from his celebration
Pavlik is too slow. It would look like Margarito vs. Cotto II in there except Pavlik is not as relentless.
No, I don't think he'd be competitive AT ALL. Pavlik's jab would be forcing Cotto back from the very first round, and once he starts landing consistently (which would be early) Cotto would be hurt/busted up pretty quickly then stopped. This isn't Canelo. Pavlik was much heavier handed than Canelo.
With the height and reach advantage, Kellys slow feet would not be such an issue. Cotto cannot hurt him and that creates major issues immediately for Cotto as any guy Cotto couldn't hurt usually gave Cotto issues.
