Khan is currently a 2/1 underdog which surprises me.

Must be value on Canelo, then. Can't see how Khan can possibly win this fight.

I'm considering betting for the first time in my life on a fight...

I just no possible outcome other than a Canelo KO victory.

I think so. Canelo doesn't set much of a pace so Khan can boxbot and flurry for a while. If Canelo doesn't land anything significant the judges might give the round(s) to Khan.

There is every chance that Khan is 3-0 through the early rounds. Then he dies.

Yep. Khan has show heart in the past bit but as soon Canelo hurts him it should be all but over. He's not going to shake of the punches or be able to avoid them for 12 rounds.

You can't give Khan anything but credit for this fight. I'll criticise Khan as much as the next, but anyone who thinks this is an easier fight than smell Brook is on glue. He's always been an ballsy idiot and this is proof for those who said he was ducking rubbish. He said he was waiting for a big fight and he has somehow got one. But it's a suicide mission. It's almost impossible to see any way he can win this fight. He'll be at about a 30lb (at least) weight disadvantage come fight night and he has a glass neck. Once ginger loads up and lands, Khan will be stretchered out. Ginger should be embarrassed by this fight when he has GGG chomping at the bit to fight him. Absolute duck job.

To my knowledge, both Canelo and GGG will have tune-ups before they fight each other later this year, so this is Canelo's tune-up fight prior to the one we want to see. Well, I very much hope Canelo and GGG happens.

I hope triple G doesn't fight a spoiler. Team Canelo will already be looking to point out that his fight did better numbers (which it will regardless of Golovkin's opponent) therefore he's "A side".

the fight makes sense. khan gets the payday he's been seeking, everyone realizes he's out sized and will get splattered. he can still move back down to welter and get TV fights. alvarez gets an easy fight vs a name opponent that will sell decently on PPV and in las vegas. a lot of brits will make the trip.

You really think so? No doubt it will get hype in the British press but I don't know if Khan has that kind of fan base. How many people travelled to see him fight Garcia?

a lot of brits come out to vegas when mayweather jr fights in may and september. mostly because they enjoy the trip. Im guessing 4-5k will be there in may

Sounds like more of a vacation with the knowledge you'll see a high profile fight than support for Khan.

well its a vacation coinciding with a big fight in vegas and i suspect the presence of khan means double the usual turnout. i know a brit who is a ticket broker and is always at the big fights in vegas. he suggested there would be 3 times as many brits as usual had mayweather jr fought khan.

That's exactly how I see it. Canelo uses this has his tune up before GGG. Khan gets his money fight. Khan had been criticized for avoiding big power punchers(though he was a W over Maidana) and he gets in with CANELO. So much for the "ducking" label.

I like both of these guys (Canelo more) but I can only see this fight going one way. Canelo by stoppage, rounds 6-8. He's too big and strong for Khan.

The entire thing is a joke and I cannot believe it has not been more roundly criticized.

Sorry if this came up earlier in the thread (haven't read the whole thread yet) ...

...but how much is Khan making for this fight. Follow up question would be about how much would he have made fighting Brook in the UK?

This could end up as a cash out fight if he gets blown out.

I think he'll box and put up a good fight for about four rounds and then begin to get broken down from the 5th round on.
