You must be kidding. The Bourne movies redefined the spy genre and action films in general.

 

:l1: suuuuure!! Any Mission Impossible plot can have jokes and is another Austin Powers movie. The Bourne trilogy brought REALISM to the genre, intense on the edge of your seat action and innovative camerawork with believable characters in political espionage, where the villain is the system, not a particular individual.

The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy were pretty good...I wasn't too bothered about The Bourne Ultimatum.

Anthony's beef with Matt Damon in an action role reminds me of many people's beef with Bruce Willis when he did 'Die Hard': many people just plain refused to watch the film just because he was that tv comedian from 'Moonlightning' and couldn't swallow that he could be believable in an action film. alm:

 

Anthony doesn't like Damon because of politics, which is a little bit disappointing to me. Anthony usually keeps that stuff out of his movie criticism.

That said, I liked the first Bourne movie, thought the 2nd was a bit janky and haven't seen any of the others. I don't have much patience for franchise movies in general.

 

Bourne films are good...but truthfully the Mission Impossible franchise is more entertaining.

 

I've caught pieces of The Departed several times lately. What a slimy prick he was. I wanted to rip the top of his head off like a can of Coke myself. ::
