Taylor was obviously more vulnerable at 147 than 140. His last fight at 140 (other than the Chavez rematch in 1994) was the first Chavez fight in 1990.

Mayorga is a bigger guy and had power, which could be trouble for Taylor, who noticably showed signs of some diminished punch resistance when he beat Glenwood Brown (a pretty good fight worth watching).

Taylor was obviously a better overall fighter than Mayorga, but style and size-wise, how does it play out at 147?

I'm of course talking about the pre-Norris version of Taylor at 147, not the guy who was dominated by Cristano Espana and looked awful.

The Taylor that beat Aaron Davis was still good enough to beat Craporga.

And for the record, Espana was a better fighter than Mayorga.

Only Espana fights I've seen were Taylor and Quartey. He seemed like a good fighter who always would have been hell for Taylor.

Overall, how would you rate him as a fighter?

I would rank Espana as a good fighter and as Quartey's most impressive win/performance.

  6. no.

    Pre-Tito Mayorga stops Welterweight Taylor.

I don't see Mayorga as any better than Aaron Davis. He was a shit fighter for the most part.
