Anthony Joshua v Charles Martin

Discussion in 'General Boxing Discussion' started by Rich ´Money´ Mustard, Feb 11, 2016.

  1. Scheduled for April at the O2 Arena, London.

Very dangerous fight for Joshua: Martin's tall, rangy, southpaw KO artist.

Good fight! I dont see much in Martin tbh but he's at the least he's gonna be a young hungry lion crap. Looking forward to it.

  3. I see both guys down in under 3 rounds....

Honestly, my first pick would be Joshua in the first. Martin holds has chin up like its suspended by a string.

Joshua is a 1:5.5 favorite in this fight.

Odds are 11/2 and Joshua is the favorite. That's wide against a guy know one seems to know much about.

I'm glad they got this deal done. It somewhat justifies Joshua's team turning down Haye and Parker recently.

Talk about hot-shotting Joshua to a HW championship

Not really. Usually there is a reason why nobody knows about someone.

Really surprised that the IBF hasn't ordered an immediate rematch with Glaskov. That was as fluky a victory as you can get.

I see a pot-shitting affair, with both guys looking to land that bomb.

how do we know joshua is good?

Okay, so Joshua was highly touted amateur. He's done nothing as a pro.

My feeling is 11/2 is wide. We shall see.

    We Don't...

But UNLIKE Some Other Current Fighters, Joshua Only has 15 Bouts Under his Belt...Compared to the Likes of GGG, for Example, w/MORE than 2wice the # of Fight...

I think AJ wins this fight, but it is a big step up on what he has fought and you have to credit him for taking this kind of fight early even if he loses. And he might. His chin hasn't really been checked yet and in his last fight we saw some possible weaknesses.

The Thing about it Is, Joshua CAN'T Take Any Backwards Steps, In Terms of Opponent Selection, Henceforth...And as You've Stated, this IS a Big Step Up...2016 Will Be a VERY Revealing Year for Him, 1 Way or the Other...

I don't think we can say Martin is a step up. THe guy is literally a question mark.

  24. He proved a great deal in his last fight which was a step up in competition.

Joshua's competition to date has been literally dreadful. The only half capable body he fought was the last one, and he was fat.

  26. And the next opponent is like "Huh!? Like...I done won a belt and stuff?"
Guy is as confused as the rest of us as to a) how he won and b) how he got this shot.

    Joshua KO1 Martin

Martin in his fight with Glazkov showed some hand speed for a guy 6'5. He has a pretty good left counter shot and seems to possess some power. If he can land on Josh like Whyte did, he might pose some serious problems.

I think whyte is good. seems like the kinda guy who's likely to go off the rails and amount to nothing but I reckon he was a more dangerous opponent than martin will be
