A good big'n beats a good little'n. When did the good little guy win?

Discussion in 'General Boxing Discussion' started by Destruction and Mayhem, Feb 23, 2016.

  1. When has the good little guy beaten the good big guy?

Pacquiao vs Cotto, morales, de la Hoya
    Duran vs Leonard 1

    What other examples?

Yeah, Pac was a naturally bigger man than Morales.

  5. Pacquiao started at flyweight. I don't see how he's naturally bigger than morales

I thought pac was too small to beat Barrera! Even at featherweight he looked small, it was weird

Pac was an anorexic teenager at flyweight. He was a natural feather or maybe lightweight.

I would say Duran was merely "good" at middleweight, and especially in 1989. Same with Barkley overall.

Leonard was "good" after 1982. Spinks was merely "good" at heavyweight and Holmes was an aging great who was "good" by that time.

I can't think of any examples right now of "good" smaller guys beating "good" bigger guys, all of whom were never "great".

Maybe Martinez-Pavlik? Smallish middleweight who had been a top rated 154 lb. fighter versus a big middleweight. Pavlik outweighed Martinez by 11 lbs unofficially on fight night.
