Your dead father is here. He bought a ticket and is right here watching his son fight. He wants to see his son win a world title. He came back from the dead to see you win the title! Don't disappoint your zombie father and win the damn belt!

    I was paraphrasing.

    NVM, that was his brother.

Just checked, it was Povetkin-Chagaev, with Atlas doing his usual hamming it up, drama queen antics.

This thread makes me realise how few fights I've seen with US commentary.

    MTF

  17. I hear you. I get the US commentary now that I live in Canada, but when I was in England growing up I had to endure Reg Gutteridge (and Jim Watt) and Harry Carpenter. All Reg Gutteridge would say is "Toughness isn't always related to winning is it Jim? He's trying to impose his will as well as his skills, right jim?"

Things didn't get good until sky sports and my boy Ian Darke.

Reg is responsible for the one I remember best from when I was kid: 'and the big hitter has been hit...'

I realize this could describe a lot of dull matchups so i'll give a hint. It was between two world class fighters.

You bet he did. I don't remember which fight though  hoping somebody else does. He was referring to the smaller guy having to put himself at risk to get in and land shots on the bigger guy.

And it's all centered around HBO. They've done some very colorful work over the years. From Lampley's unashamedly homo comments about fighters to Larry Merchant's drunken rants, George Foreman's strange and random observations, Lederman's fucked up scorecards, to arguments between all of them. Watching their telecasts it's like watching two shows at once over the years. The actual fight and the HBO sideshow.

There aren't many comments regarding Showtime's telecasts and that's a good thing.
