At 147lb Maestrito was a total freak of nature - in fact I don't think I've seen many boxers with a chin andpower like him, but also a lazy, beer-drinking, pot-smoking, poon-hound. How does Tito cope when López doesn't flinch? What does Trinidad Snr suggest to get out of this hellish nightmare?
I'm sorry, but Lopez is NOT gonna take Tito's shots all night long and not flinch. You're kidding yourself if you think so. I feel Tito would've stopped Lopez. Lopez was just too easy to hit, and I don't care how good his chin was, you just can't eat Tito's power all night at without effect. Not at welter. Dangerous fight for Tito early, as Lopez started fast and had a lot of pop. But after having Tito in trouble early, I see Trinidad recovering to take over the fight, and slowly taking Lopez apart. I think circa 8-10 Lopez is eating too many shots, and gets stopped on his feet.
No, Lopez was a lot better than Mayorga. But he still loses. Trinidad is just the better fighter, better talent, and had bigger firepower. Better defense too. I mean, Trinidad sure as Hell wasn't Willie Pep in there, but he was a lot more defensively responsible than Lopez.
Lopez had Xplosive power man, like your name, right? :: Name me one fucking fighter who Trinidad fought who had that power...
I can't, because Lopez would be the biggest puncher Tito faced at 147. But that doesn't automatically mean Tito loses. I mean, I would pick Jackson to KO Tito (most likely, anyway). But Lopez did NOT hit like Jackson.
Basically, it takes a great/semi-great fighter to beat Tito at 147. That was not Lopez. No bias here, either. I was a very big Lopez fan.
It got him a draw vs Quartey. No reason to favor Lopez in this. Trinidad was the better fighter all around.
Lopez was a lazy unmotivated stoner who never "crushed" any top quality fighter. Trinidad would have given Lopez a real reason to quit the sport.
Trinidad probably gets hurt early but he recovers and wins by just throwing and landing more shots ... Easy pick
Lopez did what and beat who? The highlight of his career is getting a gift draw over Quartey. And When Quartey put him in a shell he told his corner "his punches are hurting me". But he's going to walk through Tito like Oba Carr and Kevin Lueshing, right?
Yeah, there was something mentally missing from Lopez. He was kinda like Tua in that he had a great chin, but could be mentally intimidated enough to go into a shell. I don't think Lopez would be very willing to open up when Tito's firepower is the return.
Lopez would be telling Trinidad "dude you're hurting me with those punches, that's so not chill! Lets get out of this ring go ride some waves dude."
Lopez had a better chin than Mayorga.....and Mayorga took Trinidad punch well...THE ONE he expected and saw coming...a few seconds after Mayorga put out his chin.....Trinidad hit him with a punch before the bell he(Mayorga) didn't see coming and that punch rocked his world...sent him into his corner on shaky legs.
Lopez would eat and walk-through Tito's shotz for fun. The problem is...Lopez also had Tito-esque powerrrrr...
No way, man. Trinidad would caved his face in something serious. Lopez had no movement and no way to evade Trinidad's shots. Trinidad stops him on his feet late.
Magus is trolling....a fighter whose defense is stopping punches with his face...is NEVER going to beat Trinidad don't care how hard he HITS.
Trinidad would stop Lopez, I would bet my house on it. I don't care how durable JL was, he was just too easy to hit, and if Trinidad is hitting you all night, consistently, eventually you will go. A good fight for 4-5 rounds, but after that, the difference in class shows and it becomes a one sided beating. Trinidad KO 10.
