Most disturbing film you've ever seen

What film just disturbed you because the content or ending was so horrible?

Worse for me was " the stoning of soraya m"

I already knew how demented A Serbian Film was before skimming through it, I had read the wiki synopsis of it, so I was less disturbed and shocked by it. I guess I was too morbidly curious to fully avoid it.

Enjoy it with the entire family including abuelita. Good times.

 

Back in the day to me it was the original 'Old Boy'. The last 15 minutes of that film really messed me up big time.

 

Is only the ending that is shocking and brutal; the rest of the film is watchable.

I've heard numerous times that Serbian Film is the most disturbing movie ever. And I watched the preview for "Stoic". It looks HIGHLY disturbing.

I doubt this is number one, but one of the most disturbing movies I've seen LATELY is "Would You Rather?"

I found 'The Last temptation of Christ' disturbing. It borders on being plain Satanic. :nono:

 

Would you rather is just a sadistic film.

I imagine human centipede ( and the sequel even worse) being ridiculously disturbing but I refuse to watch that shit.

First that comes to mind is "Schindlers List", simply because it was so well made and actually left a mark on you. Not some torture porn bullshit.

Yeah, good call. In the same vein "Bully" was pretty disturbing.

Not in the sense that either was overly graphic or horrific, but I think the idea that we all grew up with at least a few kids that resembled the ones in these movies, and they were portrayed so matter of factly.

 

The only movie I've watched that, after the movie ended, everyone walked out the threatre on total silence.

It's a depressing movie (a very good one), but I wouldn't describe it as disturbing.

In all seriousness depends on what you mean by disturbing. Perhaps I have the wrong definition , but when I say it I mean films that disturb my inner peace. Mystic river did that with the injustice around Tim Robbins character. Dude couldn't get a break. Raped when he was a boy while the other two boys got away. Depressed as an adult and with a wife that didn't trust him and then wrongly accused of murder and then killed by his friend wrongfully. Hell yes that was disturbing or depressing if you prefer.

I guess by disturbing you refer specifically to when sick twisted things happen onscreen?

 

Mystic River is a little disturbing but more depressing. Same with The Deer Hunter. The Russian Roulette scene is a little disturbing, but the movie is mostly just depressing.

 

David Cronenberg's 'Dead Ringers' was pretty disturbing. Great performance by Jeremy Irons as the twin surgeon brothers.

If you're gonna watch Human Centipede, only watch the first one.

The 2nd and 3rd are COMPLETE wastes of time. Unbelievably stupid movies. I turned the 3rd one off after 15 minutes cause it was so stupid.

The first one is good, but yeah probably too disturbing for you.

 

funny thing is it's not gore per se that bothers me. I love the Saw franchise for example, so go figure. And they are pretty sick and twisted. They don't disturb me though, I find them highly entertaining. I guess disturbing films to me is when serious injustice is dealt to one or more of the characters.
