I think it's a good movie, but I don't regard it as a high point for Scorsese

I second that. The original Hong Kong film it was based on, Infernal Affairs, is an awesome film, but the Scorcese version lacks the fast paced action of that one, doesn't have the emotional resonance of the first and is way too long plus it changed the ending.

    wtf

I can agree that Caan and Brando were cheesy AF, but the films were great!

Please tell us what you consider to be iconic.

  9. Iconic doesn't neccessarily equate to being great.

    Ok.

Here's what i can say. I thought that Godfather would be some slow drawn out depressing drama, so i never bothered watching it my whole life. Then on a whim one weekend me and my lady said fuck it, lets try watching this. We were completely drawn in and found it amazing. Once it was done we went straight back and got GF2. Same thing. Amazing, touching story with plenty of plot, subplot, mystery and action sprinkled in. I know this sounds cheesy, but it was on some small level life changing. Something Id only apply to a handful of movies. It was epic, classic, great, iconic, or whatever. Not highly rewatchable due to length and the loss of suspense, but i find several scenes imprinted in my memory and play occasionally, so no need.
