The first two Batmen were big screen characters. :ant:

It's the dumbest shit ever. Get off Bale's dick.

  4. You got that from some critic, you didn't come up with that yourself. I read that before. lol

Who cares? I think it's cool to give The Batman a darker more disguised voice than Bruce Wayne. Yet another reason why Bale is the best Batman.

I just watched Tim Burton's Batman again this morning with my niece just because of all the shit you guys were saying. Campy nonsense. Joker was a big fat buffoon who pulled some 3 foot long pistol out of his underpants. lol

Michael Keaton was an awkward shit, no personality at all. Better than Bale? LOL!

No. It is in the stupid movie and was one of the funniest moments in a film filled with major plot holes.

Batman is more menacing when he barely speaks thus Keaton's Batman was better. Bale's suffers from Nolan's love of dialogue thus talks more than needed and the 'voice' sounds more dumb.

1966 Batman tv series was campy. 1978 'Superman: The Movie' the villains were campy. 1980 'Flash Gordon' was campy. 1989 'Batman' is not campy at all. The Joker is supposed to be a criminal buffon as he had been portrayed in comicbooks for decades. Nicholson's Joker is head & shoulders more menacing than the ultra campy Cesar Romero's version. Heath Ledger's Joker was irrecognizable from its up until then comicbook counterpart. He was just an anarchist with bad face paint and with The Crow's trenchcoat. He lacked The Joker's sense of humor or inventive funny criminal schemes (Joker's trademark). Ledger's Joker was a big departure from the myth canon, but stupid teenagers embraced it as the gospel truth. He was a cool criminal, but he was NOT the Joker I read in comicbooks up until then.
Jared Leto's Joker seems like another reinvention, but closer to the iconic comicbook version than Ledger's. We'll see.

Keaton's Wayne showed a somewhat excentric, kind of disturbed personality which is what you will expect from a person who suffered from PTSD at childhood and spends his nights dressed as a bat and fighting thugs. Bale seems too composed, too normal, thus not that interesting. Keaton's Bruce Wayne behaves rather unexpected. Bale's is just James Bond: womanizer & spying.

  6. You've made some decent points, especially this last one. I disagree, because 1) in the comics you didn't get the impression that Bruce Wayne acted disturbed and 2) seeing Loved ones murdered and spending your life out for revenge doesn't necessarily make someone outwardly awkward; most would channel that rage internally.

Nevertheless, I respect your argument. It has some merit.

    Pfft!

Post-Nolan comicbook image to accomodate to the film version.

Keaton in your image is a post-coitus Bruce Wayne in a robe. Here he is before that, Philantropist millionaire Bruce Wayne with gal.

  9. Pfft back at ya!

He still doesn't match the suave image of the Bruce Wayne of the comics. Keaton is short with a Big ugly head. lol

  10. Panchyprsss

    Panchyprsss Clogg's LORD PROTECTOR

Suave like...James Bond? I'll give you that Keaton is short, but does every freaking superhero has to be six feet tall? And the fact that everybody bought that the midget Keaton was indeed Batman tells you what a great job he did within his limitations in stature.

  11. Not every superhero. Wolverine is a short little guy in the comics, but Batman had stature. Can you imagine if they had a short Superman, for example?

    Everyone would lose their minds

So again, Keaton was poor casting. He only appeared to do a good Job because the film he was in was a far better rendition of the character than anything that had come before it. Had you put someone like a Bale in that initial film....and then put Keaton in a film after that...people would be like WHAT THE FUCK!? Keaton!?!

It's only because he's the original that people accept him.

  12. Panchyprsss

    Panchyprsss Clogg's LORD PROTECTOR

I know Wolverine is 5' 3" in comicbooks, but in films is portrayed by 6' 2" Hugh Jackman. Only a few complained.
When Keaton was cast there was no internet or social media, but the tabloids & fanzines went on full Pearl Harbor attack. Batfleck was nothing compared to it, but once audiences saw the film, there was nothing but praise for his performance. Some people thought the Val Kilmer was going to be a better Batman as he is taller, better build and arguably a better thespian.
    He sucked.

Then squared jaw Clooney came in and while he looked better in the suit, he was no better than Keaton or Kilmer. In fact he is viewed as the worst. Then Bale came and per your own logic, he was viewed way better than the previous ones (thinking Clooney & Kilmer) because Keaton was already a distant memory. Now you got Ben Affleck and surprisingly many nerds now say he is THE best Batman ever!

  13. Ben Affleck was a very good Bruce Wayne, IMO.

    And he looked like Batman

    Not like his cunt

Does Batfleck suit is bulletproof? It doesn't look like it is. And what the heck is that big stain on the chest area? And what about those Adam West-like small ears on the cowl? If I found myself in the middle of dark alley at midnight with Batfleck on one corner and Keaton's version at the other end, I'll run toward Batfleck for protection as Keaton's version inspires fear with its all dark suit, long pointy ears, overall more menacing.

There is a new thread for this week's box office. This one is now about who was a better Batman: Keaton or Bale.

    JUST saw it!

    Sly, as promised, my ratings:

Surpringly good! Can't understand for the life of me why some critics called it shit. It had enormous hype to live up to, and I feel Synder did a fine job. Some critics will NEVER be happy, but oh well, most are virgins anyway.

I give it a strong 7.5. Alright, I'll push it to an 8 since Wonder Woman was so fuckin sexy.

It's not a MASTERPIECE, but it's definitely not the dud some stupid critics were calling it.

Well worth seeing, and I'd wager a lot better than that dumbass Captain America vs Ironman bullshit.

That last sentence made you lose any credibility to your review. :nono:

Ironman is played out and Captain America isn't interesting at all.

I liked the first Ironman. I thought the franchise became extremely overrated after that.

I'm much more looking forward to X-Men.

  23. I completely agree with the exception of the last sentence.

    I enjoyed it very much.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is Marvel's answer to 'The Dark Knight'. That movie is almost perfect and Captain America was awesome there.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Finally watched it at a surprisingly almost empty movie theater with some old bearded rednecks wearing glow-in-the-dark bat signs t-shirts. Zack Snyder starts the film with yet another on-screen flash back sequence of Bruce Wayne's parents getting murdered that finishes with a head scratching bat-levitation scene that makes no sense whatsoever. Then is the battle of Metropolis from Bruce Wayne's point of view, which turns out to be the best sequence in the entire film. After that is a lot of talking, talking, talking between the characters before anything really happens. Then, after like hour and a half later, Batman fights Superman. The bout while competent, lacks the dramatic resonance the director tried to aim and we just marvel at all the CGI displayed on screen. Then comes Doomsday (who looks exactly like one of the trolls from LORD OF THE RINGS) and the ZAP! WHAM! Wonder Woman comes to the rescue for both the heroes AND the movie. Really, if it wasn't for her this movie would have been more flawed than it is already. The main problem with the film is that it has a weak plot. It feels like it was scripted in a committee of suits at WB trying to tie a bunch of disconnected dots together to advance their DC cinematic universe plans and the result is an obvious attempt to achieve that goal. Another big fail is, as many have pointed out, Jessie Eisenberg's Lex Luthor portrayal who would have been more appropriate in the 1966 Adam West tv series than in a 2016 blockbuster. I don't blame the actor, though, as he was merely following the script and the director's instructions. But not everything was bad. Ben Affleck was awesome as both Bruce Wayne and Batman. A nice surprise after all the Batfleck backlash. His Batman raid fight at the warehouse is one of the most exciting Batfights ever filmed. And Gal Gadot IS Wonder Woman. She nailed it in the short screen time she has (looking forward to her solo film!). Snyder is not a strong storyteller, but he knows how to create cool visuals and this film has plenty of them. The music was effective and created appropriate mood. My final verdict? I enjoyed it even though I could see what was the critics main beef (it did not lived up to the hype). Not a very good movie, but not the wreck I read everywhere. 6/10

yep, agree with the consensus on this thread - the movie wasn't too bad, and certainly not the disaster that most critics described. it's not far off being as good as Guardians of the Galaxy, which the critics loved. seems to be a case of the emperor's new clothes.

still, not a patch on avengers 1 or 2, or several other of the best marvel movies (iron man, deadpool, sam raimi spiderman 1 & 2). for one, the dialogue was naff, and there was almost no humour (honourable exception during the climactic fight scene - batman and superman wondering where wonder woman came from: "is she with you?" "nah, I thought she was with you")

    Affleck was good imo.

Keaton was the best batman. Affleck could get better if he gets more chance to develop the role.
