Not watching Star Wars must be a Geordie/Scottish liberal anti-establishment thing.

First two are quality films, I can't see any real objection to them... Well worth a watch, especially Empire which is really impressive

i watched Empire in circles as a kid
along with the TMNT movie (also a fun movie as an adult)

i wonder if someone who has never watched any Star Wars can just watch Empire as a stand alone movie :dunno:

Agreed with cdogg . You have to watch the original before Empire.

They've just never struck me as being something I'd like to watch. I keep meaning to watch them sometime but never bother doing it.

I don't watch that many movies but the strangest thing is that I really do like sci-fi films. I'm a bit of a sci-fi geek, in fact; I love Battlestar Galactica, like Babylon-5, loved Independence day, War of the Worlds (the 1950's version), Starship Troopers, Alien (the first three films), Predator, The Day the Earth Stood Still (to name a few) and can happily watch pretty much any other film you could name from that genre. Star Wars has just never appealed to me for some reason.

I never have, either. I only saw the first 40 minutes of the first one.

The first 3 Star Wars films are head & shoulders superior to all the titles you mentioned. Some of them borrowed HEAVILY from Star Wars.

Problem with watching Star Wars for the first time nowadays is that George Lucas has destroyed the original films. Episodes 4,5&6 have been bastardized to fit Lucas' new vision ( damn that guy is such a cunt). So now Gredo shoots first, the storm troopers all sound like clones, he's changed the emperor Vader scene in Empire, he shows Haydn at the end of Jedi etc. Some of these changes have affected the original feel of the films. Anyone know where I can get my hands on the originals?
