looked like he was trying to land a counter left hook and probably thought the right hand was coming to the body. this is a favorite tactic of canelo - throw the right to the body for five rounds and then bring it to the head. the feint with the jab was nice too. i was rooting for khan. canelo needs to face a real middleweight already.
Suffering 3 brutal KOs in your career makes retirement a realistic proposition. Amir Khan is an old 29 years in boxing. He's taken a lot of punishment and he's suffered some brutal beatings. No sense in going on so that he ends up like Meldrick Taylor. Should call it a day RIGHT NOW, and stick to it.
He's never suffered a brutal beating. The Maidana fight was the only really rough fight he was in. I don't recall the Prescott KO but I watched Khan-Garcia the other day and it wasn't even a good stoppage. I honestly remembered that as a one punch ko. There are alot of boxers that have taken a lot more abuse than Khan and he can still get a few good paydays. I'm not a fan so I don't really care.
He never responded well to punishment. His ears used to bruise up badly and he always looked like he had been in a bad fight. The KO was amateurish as hell. Fatty feinted a jab, Khan flinched and dropped his hands, and Fatty threw the right. Flinching. How fucking slow do you have to be to give a guy a chance to flinch. Crapnelo was all like "Ok two for fleeeenching" but Khan was already gone.
Only real payday left for Khan at 147 is Brook in the UK. And there's really no doubt about how that fight will end. Brook will KO Khan. Khan is just a name at this point. He's no longer a serious threat or contender.
Agreed. Khan needs to Man the fuck up and fight Brook. As for Canelo and Oscar, well, they can continue their..........................
It's not a compelling matchup and it's a waste of time for Brook to chase it if he wants to establish himself. Brook stops Khan early. And it'll prove absolutely NOTHING for Brook. Brook vs Spence, Thurman, or Garcia, now those are compelling matchups. Even Brook vs Jesse Vargas is a better matchup than Brook-Khan.
Xplosive how much damage to Khans chin was done last night.........could it be now that he'll be even easier to take out, once the weight comes off, and will he suffer like Roy did by taking the weight off........ :dunno: Also Roy sounded awful last night.
You have to have a chin in the first place in order for it to be damaged. Khan's chin has never existed. Brook has good pop. He's hardly Julian Jackson or anything, but Khan's chin is so piss poor that he'll make Brook look like Julian Jackson. First flush right hand Brook lands and Khan's legs are gone. And yeah, I worry about Roy. Sooner of later the years on unnecessary KO's is gonna catch up to him. He doesn't seem as sharp on commentary as he once was.
ROy is done. I read an article a few years ago who said he was going to a neurologist because he had a lot of trouble with his balance. And he's been ktfo numerous times since then. He'll end up completely braindead in a few years.
Not so sure, since I think that Canelo is a much better fighter than Brooks. But I agree that Brooks should be the heavy favourite. Khan has no skills to speak of (parying a jab to the body with his two hands, really ::), and his incredible athletic talent seems to be waning
What I am talking about more is that left hook he took early in the fight might now be enough to KO him.
Canelo is a better fighter than Brook. But then again, Garcia is an inferior fighter to Canelo and he iced Khan in 4. Khan can't beat ANY world-class fighter with power. Period. I repeat, he's nothing more than a name at this point.
Why are you posing a question to someone who is wrong 95% of the time? This guy thought Stiverne would KO Wilder "easily and make him look foolish." He said Amir Imam was the future of boxing, The "second best junior welterweight in the world." The guy got beaten by a scrub that night. Xplosive commented that he had researched the opponent and Imam would have no trouble with him. That was a truly bad prediction because he got beaten easily. Xplosive scoffed at the matchup between Sadam Ali and Jesse Vargas. Saying Vargas was a joke and Ali would easily dominate the fight. Vargas not only controlled the fight but he stopped Ali. Xplosive aslo said that he had watched tapes of Andy Lee and Billy Joe Saunders and Lee should have no trouble stopping Saunders. Saunders beat that ass. Again, I ask why are you posing a question to a guy who is wrong 95% of the time?
Brook has fought one opponent in his life. Porter, an MD over him. Before and since it's been garbage. The only other world champ with a more embarrassing resume is Crawford, who's best win was a comeback against a midget that had eaten himself out of two weight classes.
Another thing.................. it is NOT the business of HBO and their defeated lackeys to try and make fights. Yet Hunter and Khan were both quick to dictate who Alvarez should fight next. Not their business, at all.
