Edwin Rosario vs Ricky Hatton

Hatton was the bigger man, but would it matter?

 

With Rosario, you never know... He certainly has the punch and the offensive skills but he was so erratic, especially by the time he was fighting at 140

 

I don't mean by the time he actually fought at 140.

I mean a prime version of Rosario moving up for this one.

Personally, if it's an "on" version of Chapo, I think Hatton is just too damn hittable to cope with the power.

 

Hard to tell. I could see hatton smothering and molesting him to an UD. And I could see Rosario just putting him too sleep

 

Hatton's best chance is his total lack of shame and dignity... If he has a ref who allows him to avoid a boxing match by grabbing Rosario and humping him while cuffing him harmlessly with arm shots while a confused Rosario asks "¿Estás tratando de tener sexo conmigo?", then he may have a chance at a decision win

 

Same. Hatton may have been bigger, but he doesn't have the skills or chin of a guy like Chavez to say inside all night. It's pretty easy to picture Rosario doing the same to Hatton that he did to Viruet.

 

Rosario. Hatton was shite.

 

Even if Hatton tries to hump I just can't see how he doesn't get caught with something big coming in.

 

I'll give this to hatton, he had very fast legs, and pretty fast hands. Even floyd had trouble catching him consistently in between the wrastling

 

Rosario landed some big shots on CHAVEZ... several times. And Chavez was 10x better defensively than Hatton. It's just that Chavez had one of the best chins ever and walked through Chapo's best like nothing.

Hatton IS getting hit big by Rosario and he's not gonna walk through it like Chavez did.

 

Chavez was not clinching like hatton would do

 

Shite Hatton stopped Kostya Tszyu.

Had Hatton never fought Tszyu and there was a Tszyu MM on this forum y'all would unanimously pick Zoo by one sided early KO .

 

I don't rate Tszyu as highly as some people on this forum do, regardless, he was past his best and had been out of the ring for a while. Plus it was a horrible performance from Hatton.

 

I dont buy this over the hill excuse Tszyu was coming from probably is best performance ever

True, but Rosario also didn't require the room Tszyu did in order to unleash his power. It's an interesting matchup.

 

I don't think it's a coincidence that the only time Hatton looked like an elite fighter was when he fought two guys in their mid 30s that never won a meaningful fight again. If you look at Hattons career as a whole him beating Tszyu and Castillo is way out of character. He deserved credit at the time but in retrospect those guys were ripe for the picking and Hatton was in the right place at the right time.

Also as far as Chapo, it was before his prime but it's hard not to think of Eamon Magee counter smashing Hatton around.

 

castillo never did shit at 140. even at the time i didn't think much of hatton's win.

 

same... it made for a nice highlight reel but there wasn't a ton of substance to it
