Y'all are hung up on cotto. De la Hoya , Pacquiao and Marquez are great fighters and time will tell with Canelo. Again if Pacquiao is deemed as past prime when Floyd fought him, or Marquez or Oscar then you would have to evaluate certain victories by past great fighters in the same way. Can't have it both ways.

Is there any footage of the first Hagler-Finnegan fight? I've heard it was really close on the cards at the time of the cuts stoppage and that Hagler considered Finnegan the toughest guy he ever faced.

Hagler was, at worst, a top three middleweight all time. His title reign was impressive, and the fighters he beat before he won the title were not exactly a walk in the park either.

The Duran fight was an 11-4 type of fight. Hagler started slowly, but when he came on it was all his fight. The Hearns fight was amazing, after the first round...Hearns never had a chance. The Leonard fight was a tough loss that Hagler could have won if he started fighting a couple of rounds earlier...but he didn't and deserved to lose.

He fought him twice... Don't know if there's footage of either fight... I haven't seen either bout

It's a shame... Lots of good middleweights at that time

There is One or two names in that list that i think that cotto could beat. But anyways, thats besides the point. I get what you mean. Its true that I wouldn't pick cotto over brown, and im not sure i would consider brown great (though i think cotto probably had a better career).

Still, if we dont have the same baseline, as i said before, the discussion of who is great or not is meaningless

I dont think id pick anyone over hagler at mw. But even considering that, the leonard fight is such a huge blemish on hagler career, that i dont think i could rank him more than third on an all time list

Hagler was a bad boy , one of my favourite fighters of all time. But losing to Leonard and having close long fights with a blown up past prime lightweight who already lost to Laing and would soon be butchered by Hearns, and mugabi, hurt him in terms of who beats who.

Y'all can't be blinded by his bald handsome head, best of all time finishing ability and menacing appearance only. He was a great fighter but there are legitimate questions.

That's a shame. I know Marvin apparently won the second in a far more comfortable fashion but the first bout was extremely close by all accounts. Both Finnegan brothers were good boxers.

None of those guys were remotely 'great' at the time and/or weight floyd fought them

    Ok. ;)

The same logic can be applied to a myriad of opponents of past greats, but fine, there's no convincing people here.

00s and 10s suck, 80s and before rule!!!!!

If you can't beat'em, join'em. It's futile to keep swimming against the tide .

Marquez and Pac were dramatically smaller than Floyd. Not in boxing terms but in practical 'two guys on the street' terms. DLH and Pac were clearly past prime. Not in nitpicking boxing fan terms but in the sense that even the casual fan knew they were past their best. Marquez only meaningful win at these weights was over lil Pac, and then he lost to a guy Pac beat up 3x that's nowhere near a great fighter.

SKY have footage, but I don't know that anyone else has. I remember them showing the first fight about a year back, maybe when Chris Finnegan died? It was a good fight.

First fight or second? I heard there was some footage of the rematch but nothing of the first bout. I was told the camera crew couldn't get there in time because there was a massive snowstorm or something.
