Me. I wouldn't have given Pacquiao a chance if it wasn't for the Brawl in Montreal. If Leonard could get drawn into a brawl like that and get outworked, same thing could happen against the Pacquio of 2009/2010...a guy who was lightening fast and never stopped throwing punches, ever. It's not a gimme for Leonard. Yeah Pacquiao had trouble with Marquez and even got knocked out...but shit happens in boxing when you meet a specific style that messes you up. Leonard was never a pure counter puncher like Marquez...and Pacquiao had taken and walked through heavier punches than the one's Marquez were throwing at him (Margarito, Morales, Cotto, Arguably Old Oscar and Old Mosley as well)
Leonard wins as the bigger and thus better welterweight and probably by KO but Manny that destroyed Hatton makes a good fight out of it. Leonard was hittable
Even after the Cotto fight, I still picked Leonard.. Stylistically, I think it's a mismatch. Leonard is bigger, stronger, more powerful, and possibly faster. Smarter also. Pac would be open for those short hooks and uppercuts inside. I just see Leonard's accumulation getting the job done. Leonard KO 6
LMAO! Sly's ridiculous post aside, which I can't stop laughing at.... no! Pac doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell here. Too many reasons to even get into.... but one of the biggest is speed. Manny's best asset has ALWAYS been his handspeed.... and Leonard was faster. Not only faster physically, but Ray THOUGHT a lot faster than Manny. Factor in that Leonard is much taller, stronger, more powerful, and with a much longer REACH.... there's just no way Pac doesn't get countered to death and KO'd. Total mismatch.
We can never say never, and pacman has surprised me way too many times for me to completely dismiss his chances, but i cant see pacquiao being competitive with Leonard, and even less winning
Jumping in and out, scoring combos on two sloths like Cotto and Hatton is FAARRRR different than trying that shit with Ray Leonard. Leonard catches Manny jumping in and turns his lights out. It's really that simple.
Manny's only chance would be if Leonard had the Zika virus in the ring that night. His usual ace in the hole (hand speed) would not be present with a guy like Leonard across from him.
I pick Pacquiao as he was an unstoppable beast in his prime. I can't see Leonard being able to not mix it up at certain point and that is when Pac would have tested his jaw.
Hearns hits sorta hard...but not really...nowhere near Pacquiao punch...I mean look at what he did to Hatton...
Pacquiao's power wouldn't trouble Leonard in the slightest. Leonard had a rock solid chin. Pac's punches wouldn't even tickle. However pac's workrate would bother Leonard regardless of what these other fellas be saying
WE all know that(except for exaggerator)...in 4 fight Pacquiao couldn't get the better of Marquez...why? Jabs....counter punching and a controlled aggression. Truth is Leonard will take Pacquiao apart...
Yep. And he wouldn't need 12 rounds, and he wouldn't need 4 fights for it. Pac will come out aggressive as usual, and may even land some shots, but the moment he tastes Ray's left hook, he'll cool off. Even at that, he knows no other way other than to go in gung ho with that left hand. Leonard's quick footed enough to either side step, pivot, or move out of range and counter with a hard right hand.
yeah, but guys, we have to pretend boxing is as good as ever right now so Floyd can look better... so Pac = Duran, only even better... Leonard = Mayweather, only not quite as good 'cause he have loss ... Alvarez = some sort of Hagler/Hearns surrogate, depending on the mythical matchup and how it might relate to Floyd's legacy... Cotto = Benitez because like Puerto Rico and stuff... Cuevas/Palomino = Baldomir... John Mugabi = Edison Miranda... you get the idea
