How would either of these two fighters fare against the Toney that fought McCallum (not including the third bout)

Huge edge to Canelo because today's fighters are much better defensively and more clever than exciting brawlers like Toney who fought like cavemen because they thought getting punched in the head was harmless ... Toney tries to make it exciting but Canelo uses his super careful caginess and greater knowledge of neurology to frustrate Toney thus enhancing Floyd's legacy by proxy

    Lol

Toney beats both but GGG makes it close.

Incidentally 90s is when the shift to clever cagey fighting over brutality started and Toney was a 90s fighter. 90s and beyond became more patient and smarter, taking less punishment but making for more boring chess matches. Maybe Nunn of the late 80s started the trend and Roy Jones perfected it setting the tone for future generations

Of course you still have your guys that like to get down and dirty like the cavemen of old, but not so much anymore at the highest level

Toney was obviously brilliant, I'm not so sure he beats GGG though. I can see why he'd be favoured but GGG's boxing ability is seriously underrated on here. People forget he's actually a counter-puncher (who just happens to hit hard), has an outstanding jab and nice footwork. If Toney wins he has to go through some fire to do so.

Well said, not true, but nicely put. I have better insight than most and that's because I think and don't just react. I'm objective and refuse to be subjected to any biases.

Toney vs Canelo would be one of the most brutal ass whuppings ever witnessed.

Toney stops the Ginger bitch in a VERY VERY one sided fight.

I am not yet sure about that. So far Canelo has been mostly troubled by movement. Toney is the more skillful but I could see Canelo make a fight.

With GGG too, it is too early to tell. GGG might be forced to change his strategy, but then again, he might be able to

Canelo's 7.5 punches per minute workrate would surely be too much for Toney's primitive defense... I mean this guy has knocked out steel-chinned, master boxer and career super middleweight Amir Khan and has decisioned famed 35 year old middleweight legend Miguel Cotto... Who'd Toney beat in those guy's class?

Movement obviously troubles him but Floyd ran away from Pacquiao more than he did against Alvarez and he was able to easily handle Canelo's low output. JT is obviously much bigger than Mayweather. He could stand stationary and light up Canelo something fierce.

Too early to say for sure, but I'd give GGG a good shot.

Movement? Did you not see Floyd stand directly in front of that freckle faced buffoon and embarrass him?

Why does Toney need movement to beat the shit outta Crapnelo?

Toney's better than Crapnelo at literally every single facet of boxing. Name ONE thing Crapnelo does better.

Canelo in the press conference "I don't fuck around!"

Toney "Imma fuck around and knock yo ass out! Knock ya momma ass out, then imma take your girl! Ole Happy Days lookin ass bitch!"

Look at the way he obliterated HOF southpaws in Trout and Lara. What southpaw did Toney ever beat? Only that bum Nunn.

In all honesty, the Toney from the Nunn fight and from the first McCallum fight would quite possibly kill the Ginger.

Toney was more athletic back then than ANYBODY seems to remember from some reason.

He didn't dance like Ali, but he had very quick/excellent footwork and would kill that red head bum with angles.

Toney is in a different league to Canelo at Middleweight, even P4P. He handles him.

Toney is naturally bigger than Canelo. But this isn't the main point of my response so why dwell on this? Toney is the better fighter p4p or otherwise

It's irrelevant to say p4p and you're doing it to handicap the matchup because Canelo lost to your idol

Prime Toney at middleweight was a much better fighter than an ancient Floyd at 154.

JT would beat the dog shit outta that fuckin plodding clown.

Both would lose big to Toney. GGG, even though hes a better fighter than Canelo, would fare even worse imo, as his style is taylor made for toney

That remains to be seen. We have yet to see Golovkin in with a top notch counter puncher. Not that there's anybody around in Toney's league but we'd at least have to find out how he copes with that style before saying "he's tailor made".

That's a crock of shit. Golov would be FAR more competitive against Toney than Canelo would be.

Make no mistake, Toney would knock Canelo clean the fuck out! In a one sided fight.

Golov wins some rounds, but ultimately, I think Toney on his A-game decisions Golov.

Canelo doesn't win a minute, let alone a round against Toney.

Jesus Christ this red head bum is overrated.

Canelo might be THE most tailor made fighter for Toney.

I can see Canelo taking LESS punishment than GGG...because just like the FLoyd fight eventually after getting countered he will STOP trying...he will come forward at times but not really trying too hard.....and fake it to a decision defeat.

Of course of Toney sits back and counter what Canelo gives him...then it goes to a decision...but if Toney starts walking forward...CANELO is in trouble and will take his beating...then go nite nite...

Youre overreacting like a teenage girl in her period. I fail to see where i overrated canelo. Said he would lose big and that GGG is better. But then, youve been acting like a teenage girl when it comes to canelo in the last few years. Completely irrationally. GGG is a worse inside fighter than Canelo. The worm was able to win a few rounds fighting like a poor man toney and that is not even his style. Toney would have a field day considering his moderate classic euro style is perfect for toney counters and inside game. canelo would be a bit more competitive since he might land a few punches here and then during his spurts, but he would still catch a whooping
