Dead of heart failure at 42. The Slice / Dada 5000 fight looked ridiculous when it happened. Apparently they gassed so badly because they were both near death.
It looked like the other way around at the end. Dada's heart stopped that night at the hospital, and he almost died. I'm not a cardiologist, but I thought they'd do a better job of evaluating the health of fighters before clearing them for these events. There should be at least some warning signs that would show up in a thorough physical exam. Heart failure doesn't happen to healthy 42 year olds.
I'll be 41 next week, and I'm a steroid user. I guess I should be worried, except I use responsible doses and get regular blood work and physicals to make sure everything's going well.
