At this point. Bruno smokes him. He went a few rounds with a near prime LL, and was ahead on the cards iirc. He'd have to survive a shaky moments or two, but his jabs would trouble AJ, and he would land big and KO him. Probably will be different in a few years when is mor seasoned and hits his prime
If AJ fights disciplined, I like him to eventually stop Bruno. If he gets too brave too soon, he gets KO'd.
There are people that would actually pick Bruno? I guess beating Joe Bugner proves he could handle Joshua....
A man who rocked Tyson and Lewis has no shot against Joshua? Yeeeaa.... ok. Bruno was just a TAAADDD bit better than White and Breazile, dontcha think?
We don't know enough about this kid yet but we (well, those of us that watch boxing matches closely) do know that Bruno is a lot better than anyone he has fought yet
Well, according to Sly, AJ already proved he's the best hw in the world, by virtue of blowing out a few bums in style. Not too surprising since for him what his important is looking like a superhero, not acually beating good fighters. In fact, for him, struggling against a good/great fighter is detrimental to a fighter reputation, since it remove a bit of its inviciblity aura
Sly is a terrific fellow, but he believes a unanimous decision over Peter McNeeley is more impressive than a majority decision loss to like Mike Tyson
AJ has fought nobody near Bruno's level yet and obviously competes in a much worse era. Saying that, if somebody put a gun to my head and said "pick the winner of this fight, if you get it wrong, you die" - I'd pick Joshua. It's based off a hunch and I'd be bricking it the whole time, but that would be my pick.
You guys are really ignorant, . Use your eyes!! It is clear that Joshua is a better fighter than Bruno. Joshua would have beaten every guy Bruno beat. bruno was as basic as they come. He was a big strong robot with bad stamina and poor resilience
"Use your eyes" says the guy who believes the fighters of today are more skilled than the fighters of 30 years ago
On average, no, but there will be some. It's a big world out there. The problem now is that because we've been through such a shit period everybody is ultra-sceptical about anybody who shows a bit of promise, they make ONE mistake or get hit with a punch or something and everybody's like "oh well THAT proves it, no way {insert fighter name} can last with the guys of thirty years ago". They're not afforded the same breaks and it starts to get a bit silly.
I agree, and it's magnified in the heavyweight division. That said I'm still not "comfortable" picking Joshua over Bruno yet. He's well better than anybody Joshua has faced thus far.
Lol. Are we talking about the same AJ? The guy who nearly got koed by average ass dillion whyte ? This guy is now a lock to beat Bruno???
He didn't "nearly get KO'ed" though. He got hit by a punch and rocked a bit. He still had enough wits about him to cover up and roll with the follow up shots. I swear that incident gets blown out of proportion more and more every day. Besides, it's irrelevant. Lots of fighters get rocked early in their career, some got knocked down, some got knocked out. If they fought in the 90's or before it's no big deal, if it's from the 2000's onwards it proves they're a bum.
Also for the record I don't consider him a "lock" to beat Bruno, as I said it's completely based off a hunch. If my life depended on picking a winner of go with AJ as I believe he will prove to be better. Admittedly I know I could look like an absolute mug a couple of years from now ::
When i watched the fight live, i tought he was a goner. Credit to him to have survived this though. But fact remains thst the only decent guy he fought had him out on his feet. Doesn't means hes shit, only that we have to wait a bit before annointing him the next best thing. I dont mind people picking AJ over Bruno. The guy has incredible potential. But he hasnt proven shit yet
Btw been reading a few articles about Bruno and they all called him the national treasure. Wtf is the deal with that ?
I didn't say that, but I won't bother trying to explain what my point was. Regardless Joshua is clearly a better fighter than Bruno, clearly. Bruno was a big stiff dumb robot.
Bruno was better than these bums that inhabit the division today, that includes Wilder and Fury. Is it very possible that AJ beats Bruno? Sure. Is it a given? No. The dude was hurt by Whyte, a guy without a fraction of Bruno's power or Bruno's jab.
He's faster, more fluid in his movements and his punching, hits just as hard if not harder. So far has shown the ability to comeback from adversity. Bruno was a big strong bum. Don't overrate him because he fought in the 80s Por favor
I think Joshua is a better talent than Bruno but until he beats the other champs, it's not a given. I still think he's the best heavyweight today. He'd whip both Fury and Wilder, and Ortiz would be competitive but it wouldn't be enough to beat AJ. He'd massacre that fag, Haye.
Just wait.... once he KOs Wilder ( who's a bum himself) brace yourself for claims that AJ beats Tyson, Lewis, and Foreman.
Question, two actually: 1) If he beats every heavyweight out there convincingly, can the comparison to the great heavyweights then be made? 2) If not, what does he have to do?
I don't believe AJ was even close to being KO'd by Whyte. That being said, it is way too soon to put him against the likes of Tyson, Lewis, and Foreman. Those guys were just a different level altogether.
Only time will tell if AJ is at their level or anywhere close to it. So far we have zero evidence EITHER WAY
That's because he wasn't. He was hurt by a decent shot but never looked like being stopped at all and he recovered quickly enough to win pretty much every remaining second of the fight. The Whyte fight planted some seeds of doubt as to how sturdy Joshua's chin is. Not much more than that. MTF
