Name fights where the outcome would be reversed if the loser was in their prime. Don't state the absolutely OBVIOUS, like Chavez vs Willy Wise, or Tyson vs McBride. Those are academic.

    Here's a few:

Tyson vs Lewis: It's not ridiculous to believe that Lewis beats any version of Tyson, but I can't see it. I think circa 87-88 Tyson KO's any version of Lewis.

Holmes vs Holy: Prime Holmes comprehensively outboxes Holy.

Foreman vs Holy: Prime Foreman KO's Holy

Chavez vs DLH: I think prime Chavez would have taken over down the stretch against Oscar.

Leonard vs Norris: Alright, this is basically a given. Prime Leonard woulda wiped his ass with Norris.

Jones vs Tarver: Prime Jones would have beaten Tarver by a very wide margin.

    Jones vs Calz: See above.

Hopkins vs Calz: Circa 97-01 Hopkins would have won clearly against Sloppy Joe.

Curry vs Norris: I can't see Norris beating the 84-85 Curry.

Tszyu vs Hatton: Prime Tszyu would have taken Hatton apart.

Ken Buchanan vs Carlos Ortiz: Buchanan was a helluva fighter, but he'd have been outclassed big time by a prime Ortiz.

Calzaghe always beats Hopkins. Agreed on Jones though.

Mosley vs Crapnelo: Prime Mosley lights that slow Ginger up.

Like Hell he does. What I'll concede is that Joe is always competitive with Hopkins, but Hopkins at his peak I can't see how Joe doesn't get outclassed in the long run.

    Morales vs Garcia and maidana

P4P Morales was better than both by several miles, but the man had no business ever competing at 140.

    Wlad vs Fury.

The Wlad that beat up Mercer or McCline beats up Fury.

  8. Xplosive

    This is borderline obvious.

I hate Wlad, really do. But Wlad in his youth would have killed that skill-less bum.

Louis vs Marciano: Rocky was a great fighter, but prime Louis would have chewed him up.

Ali vs Holmes: Prime-for-prime it woulda been a pretty dull fight, but Ali's speed would have kept him a step ahead of Holmes all night.

Mancini vs Haugen: Haugen beat the living shit outta a shot Mancini who came outta retirement for one last fight.

Prime-for-prime I think it's a very good fight, as Haugen was no slouch. But I see prime Mancini beating too much for Haugen.

Borderline obvious, perhaps, but around here I am surprised I even got a semi-cogent response.

Pre-Steward Wlad would have steamed into Fury and made shit of him.

I always liked MSM vs DMQ.........If Matt hadn't got those miles on the clock, that midget couldn't have done jack with him.

  13. Xplosive

Fury is rubbish, he really is.

If I'd pick a free swinging buffoon like Wilder over him, then obviously I'd pick a young Wlad over him.

And disagreed on that last sentence, although Cdgogg will agree with you.

Qawi was a better fighter than Saad, and would always beat him.

    Pacquiao vs De La Hoya
Joppy vs Duran- (This is too obvious, though).
    Camacho vs Leonard- (Ditto).
Golota vs Bowe- (92 Bowe makes him quit).
Holyfield vs Tyson- (I think 86 Mike beats any version of Holy, really bad).
    Tszyu vs Chavez

I guess I just have a soft spot for MSM.

  16. Slice N Dice

Na. I'd say it's the other way round, Hopkins would always be competitive with Calzaghe.

    Tszyu-Chavez is a good one.

What about De La Hoya-Chavez? Or is Oscar just too big for him?

  17. Slice N Dice

I honestly think Holyfield just had Mike's number.

    Possibly.. I can't discount that.

The reason I say that is because 92 Holyfield was very gung-ho and HITTABLE... The type of fighter to take 3 just to land one and I'm not sure how that translates to success against a young, ferocious, HUNGRY Tyson.

That said, I don't see any version of Holyfield beating Lewis. I think Lennox definitely had his number and was just a better fighter, period.

Norton from 1972 might have been able to outpoint Holmes :dunno:

This might be an obvious, but prime Benitez would have boxed rings around Matt Hilton.

    Prime DM beats Wholio Gonzalez.

I think a prime Trinidad smacks around Winky Wright at 154. A prime Quartey beats Forrest decisively at 147.

I think prime Tito vs Winky is a close, controversial fight. I don't see it one sided for either guy.

Prime Quartey absolutely mops up with Vernon Forrest, I agree. I thought he beat Forrest convincingly in 2006.

  24. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

he almost beat both at 140

    I'm with you

Saad was a weight-drained zombie when Qawi beat him... He was nothing like what he'd been even a couple of years earlier... I don't put much stock in that fight at all

  27. Xplosive

PRIME Quartey???? Washed up Quartey beat Forrest easily! One of the worst decisions of all time!

  28. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

    definitely possible

Norton against any guy that loves to jab and move but isn't a monstrous puncher is a photo-finish fight... The guy was a nightmare for boxers

  29. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Disagree... I'd favor Ortiz but I can't see him having easy time with Buchanan ever

Eusebio Pedroza vs Barry McGugian comes to mind. Prime Pedroza woulda outclassed Barry.

Naz vs Barrera: This is a controversial choice, but I feel 95-96 Hamed woulda KO'd Barrera. Hamed 100% depended on his speed and reflexes. Years of not training and not giving a shit robbed him of his physical talent, and he was extremely flat and slow against Barrera. And not much of that was due to Barrera IMO.
