I don't think the Lightning Seeds quite fit in with the rest of the the Brit Pop bands but they had some good tunes in that era. "What If Now" would have been their obvious attempt at making a social commentary song, though a very vague song about eternal greed.

I wasn't on board with Travis at the time but I think they had some good songs in the 90s. I won't mention Oasis and Blur but I like them both.

This song is extra hilarious if you change it to her singing "Hush... Hush... git er done now... voices carry"

I went to see Steely Dan in 2000 when they were touring in support of one of their ´comeback´ albums.
    * No Jeff ´Skunk´ Baxter, Denny Dias, Larry Carlton, Dean Parks or Jay Graydon
    * No Jeff Porcaro or Jim Hodder

Just a couple of smart-ass muso-kids from NY State and even worse, the cunt in front of me was actually dancing.

Fuck you, Fuck you, FUCK YOUUUUUUU!!!

I admit it's good lyrically, it's just a shame the actual song is a steaming puddle of diarrhoea.

:partie: Songs about fucking is still, no doubt, one of the most intense and uncompromising albums ever made

I saw them sometime around '02 or '03 at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Every MILF on the Central Coast was acting like they were at a Bob Marley concert. The whole place reeked of ganja. My only complaint (besides my gf made us late and the guy in front of me was like 600 lbs so my knees were to my chest the whole show) was they sounded TOO good. It was like being in a sold out arena and listening to a remastered Steely Dan album.

I never liked that song either. It's like a joke song to me. The rest of the album grew on me. It took a while to get used to the mockney whining but after a while I started liking Blur.

Had I not lived in Japan in the late 90s I would have probably skipped the whole Britpop thing altogether (apart from Oasis who broke through as a stadium band in the US.) Suede, Pulp, and Blur were very popular on the video channels we got there.

Ja, ive read the bio (where else would i get ammo to bam you up!). They moved to LA in their early 20s where they worked as session musicians....and most their albums were recorded in LA with session musicians. Smooth groove!

Its hilarious to think that very few of the male NWOBHM back then suspected or could contemplate Rob Halford of being gay!
