 Quelle surprise: this movie is being destroyed mercilessly by critics.
Rotten Tomatoes currently have it at a piss-poor 34% and an average rating of 5.3/10

Rotten Tomatoes has the new Ghostbusters listed as fresh despite the general public wiping their arse with it. They have no credibility.

That's not to say this film will be good. DC so far have had a shocker with their version of the MCU.

It´s not just RT that are trashing this movie: pretty much a universal crushing almost on a level of the last Fantastic Four movie...

Got to admire DC though: they keep on trying....but failing so badly.

To be fair it must be awful trying to catch up to what Marvel did. Cramming films together quickly is not the correct way. MCU was built over time. DC has the better villains by far and could do alot if they weren't in such a rush.

Ideally, they should have built off the Nolan movies but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

Doubtful, but then my daughter could drag me to watch it. Sacrifices parents do for their children...

You guys realize that RT does not reviews films, but gather ALL available reviews from critics and comes with a universal score based on what each critic rated the film in question, right? Sometimes a film might have a higher score based on the first bunch of reviews, but if more negatives reviews keep poping up, then the score will go down. It is very simple.

I am not defending the movie or anything, but it is still too early. That 35% rotten is based on just 66 reviews of which only 23 were top critics and got 23 'Fresh' from those, which means non-top critics hated it. But the final verdict will be on Friday or Saturday when 90% of all reviews will be tallied. It might go up in score, but not enough to rank it 'Fresh' IMO.

And Rainmaker will be here with his broken record of 'Marvel/Disney-paid-critics-to-trash-the-film' in...One...Two...Three...

Of course but the score it shows first is the critic aggregate. Hence why GB is certified fresh 73% based on 273 reviews, Average rating 6.4. The viewer score is rated 58% based on 96,951 reviews Average rating 3.2.

Suicide Squad is at 35% based on 68 critic reviews. Average rating 5.3. So while I've actually heard a few good reports on this, critics are calling it a shocker. Context is king.

Much like Metacritic, aggregate scores are dubious at best.

Another thing: clicking on the Top critics button for GB drops it to 59% still fresh. Nerve (which I've never heard of) has a score of 56% and is certified rotten. What's the criteria?

    EDIT - Jason Bourne 57% - Rotten

Rotten - The Tomatometer is 59% or lower. Yet GB is still certified fresh. Hmmmmm

I'm not really sure TBH. I didn't like Zod much and it seemed far too overwrought for mine. The final act just seemed like destruction for destructions sake rather than any sense of urgency. A bit Transformers. I've yet to see BvS for that reason.

It's a shame because I thought the trailer for it was excellent (MoS). Full disclosure however I think Superman is the least interesting character imaginable. How can you get invested in a character who is basically indestructible? Oh but his friends are in trouble. Lois Lane? Jimmy Olsen? Please.

I did however like Nolan's take on Batman and thought the Keaton Batman and Nicholson Joker were both good so I don't think it's a hating DC thing. I quite like the Daredevil series and Jessica Jones.

Struggling to think of a good recent DC movie though: Is Deadpool DC? I liked that.

Deadpool is Marvel. I liked Man Of Steel and I'm not really a Superman fan either.

"Preacher" on AMC is a DC property, and it's pretty damn good.

i like this take of superman because he still is uncertain as to what to do. The man is in constant state of doubt, as I would imagine anyone with that kind of power would be. I didn't even see zod as a villain. I saw him as a man wanting to protect his people, but going at it the wrong way. Same as superman with his adopted people. Two passionate opposites going head to head. And it seemed like a learning experience for supes. Yeah it was destructive, but these two are indestructible, so everything else would naturally suffer when these two lock horns.

I think dc is taking a very serious approach with these movies. Marvel seems more light hearted. DC. seems very serious. I like both brands. I enjoyed bvs. But if you hated MOS, you might not like it. Even tho supes is very vulnerable in it.

Btw, DC animation/WB animation is top notch IMO. I love their comic features, which I think are better than marvels.

Horses for courses I guess. Guy who played Zod was still a way better choice than Col Sanders from the Matrix movies.

Fuck Rotten Tomatoes rating system, Im reading wave afterwave of really negative views from other sources:

´David Ayer’s supervillain movie had sky-high expectations riding on it following a bold and brutal marketing campaign but, perhaps inevitably, failed to live up to its own hype, with critics slashing it with a string of wince-inducing insults from “crushingly puerile” to “too shoddy and forgettable to even register as revolting”. Vanity Fair even goes so far as to brand it worse than last year’s notoriously dreadful Fantastic Four reboot.
    It was, in short, devastating.
It stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, to name just a few of its big name cast members, along with an “underwhelming” Leto, who reportedly enjoys just 25 minutes of screen time despite the relentless stories of his crazy method acting.
Some fans have taken the negative reviews to heart, starting a petition to 'shut down' Rotten Tomatoes.

    The Independant
´“Nowhere near nasty enough […] by the final reel, the Suicide Squad are behaving little differently than any other superheroes. This surely defeats the entire point of the movie.”

    The Telepgraph
“Eardrum-puncturingly bad dialogue, scowling self-pity, covert pornography and scrappy CGI […] the film makes you cringe so hard your teeth come loose. Crushingly puerile“

    The Guardian
“It’s a clotted and delirious film with flashes of preposterous, operatic silliness. But it doesn’t have much room to breathe; there are some dull bits, and Leto’s Joker suffers in comparison with the late Heath Ledger.”

    Vanity Fair
“Suicide Squad is ultimately too shoddy and forgettable to even register as revolting. At least revolting would have been something […[ If you can believe it, Suicide Squad is even worse than Fantastic Four. At least that mess of a movie had some shimmer of an idea to it.”

    Time
“Loaded with jokes but devoid of wit, Suicide Squad is dead on arrival.”

    Screen Crush
“The opening sequence has all the excitement of a mildly contentious HR meeting and the movie gets no better from there. Bland, boring and sometimes borderline incoherent, Suicide Squad is a disappointing disaster.”

    Hollywood Reporter
“A puzzlingly confused undertaking that never becomes as cool as it thinks it is […] all flash, no fun.”

    Chicago Tribune
“This is a lousy script, blobby like the endlessly beheaded minions of the squad’s chief adversary. It’s not satisfying storytelling; the flashbacks roll in and out, explaining either too much or too little, and the action may be violent but it’s not interesting.”

I think we can ascertain just from a) the fact its DC an b) the stupid fucking trailers that this was going to be an utterly shit movie.

    Enjoy, cunts.

    Impressive.
A Boy-Scout Nerd-pleaser who doesn´t actually say anything about the movie and has as much testosterone as James Cordon.

I was disappointed by MoS for the same reasons The Genius pointed out and while I found BvS:DoJ not as bad as most critics put it, it made MoS look great, tbh and that is not a compliment.
