  2. Honestly! Some films should never be remade. Is nothing sacred?

    Nope.

I won't be surprised if one of these days they announce a remake of 'The Godfather' set in modern time with Leonardo DiCaprio as Don Corleone and directed by Michael Bay.

Yeah, Leo can nail Vito Corleone!

  5. Yup you can tell that this film loses the soul of the original mug like the remake of clash of the Titans did. I'm with you, out of respect for the original I refuse to watch it

And I heard his voice take the sword from my hand. So, instead, I picked up a rifle. - Charlton Heston.

It seems they have turn this fucking movie into a typical REVENGE MOVIE....the original was almost 4 hrs. long...you think this shit will be 3-4 hrs long? Nah...160-175 minutes...rush everything...n shit the story.

Ben Hur races to bomb this weekend. The widely trashed remake (31% at RT) grossed only a mere $4.2 million on Friday which could lead to $10-$12 million debut which is plain disastrous for this costly $100 million remake. The producers are now praying to the Almighty Lord that the remake can recoup some money at the international market. This is another strike for Paramount Pictures which so far has been experiencing one of its worst years ever.

  12. Ditto, double ditto along with Sly.

And as for Panchy´s last post, Im not fucking surprised its bombed.

    WTF were they thinking? :scratcher:

    Precisely.

What next, "Doctor Zhivago.............." with.............Jane Fonda playing Doctor Zhivago and Oprah Winfrey as Strelnikov

The original probably employed more extras than the number of people that went to watch this shit in its opening weekend.

Too late...but they couldn't persuade Jane Fonda, so they got Kiera Knightley instead.

Straight trash. I won't watch it. I don't know how some movies get greenlit. Just like gods of Egypt. Knew it would bomb.

It's CGI set in the fucking BC days. Who the fuck wants to see that? I doubt there are many foreigners who are interested in that shit either. CGI robots? yeah, CGI giant fucking monsters? yeah, CGI chariot races? Fuck no. I hope this shit bombs to all fuck overseas.

Suicide Squad remained at the top for the third straight week with $20.8 million. The DC film has now grossed $262.4 million domestically (worldwide $575 million).

Crashing from its horse chariot, Ben Hur bombed miserably on its debut with $11.2 million in the sixth spot, earning immediately the title of Worst Box Office Failure of the Year. Maybe the studio will learn their lesson to leave alone past classics.

I have no problems with Remakes, if they are done right and stay true. Ben-Hur in 1959 itself was a remake.

  22. Liberal (atheist LGBT-loving) Hollywood has no respect for biblical themed films these days and there is no point making a bible based film unless you're going to be respectful of the source material.

After Noah, I categorically refused to watch another one.

They are rare. The Passion was great. There were a few others, but nothing significant. We dont have any Cecil B CeMille type directors anymore.

    I hear ya.

Hollywood Biblical films these days are too secular (God is not mentioned (NOAH) or if He does, then they SHOW HIM as a ten year old boy (see EXODUS: GODS & KINGS) or they simply make the prophet a total looney. I crave for a great director who is also a believer as in respecting the source material. If that doesn't happen, then is better if they don't do it. From what I read this Ben Hur offended both crowds: seculars thought it was too preachy while Christians thought it was too secular. Apparently while trying to win everybody they lost everybody!

  26. Funny thing is the success of LOTR, game of thrones and avatar show that people like fantasy. Therefore even if people are under the impression that God and religion are fantasy, they'd still flock to see it. But when they try to compromise that, unnecessarily, they annoy both camps as you said and lose everyone.

There is nothing to lose by making a God movie very spiritual etc. Besides the main audience you're trying to attract is religious anyway and there are enough religious people in the world to make the film a success

You know that Hollyweird have never done a movie on the prophet Elijah? Man, that could be EPIC! The miracles and wonders God did through Elijah surpass those of Moses (well, not the plagues, but close). There is only a cheap poorly done cartoon movie and that's all. A movie on Elijah needs to be on a big budget and has all: action, adventure, court intrigues and politics for the Game of Thrones crowds, plus epic battles and jaw droping miracles (which will require top notch special effects). The actor portraying Elijah must be someone with great physical presence and a commanding voice as he was no wimp.

Elijah challenging the prophets of Baal with bringing fire from heaven

Elijah calling fire from heaven that burned to a crisp all of the King Ahab soldiers send to capture him.

Elijah taken to heaven in a chariot of fire

  28. Agreed. Elijah film would be great.

  29. Panchyprsss

    Panchyprsss Clogg's LORD PROTECTOR

Yup. There is so much to bring a great screen spectacle from an Elijah movie. Like...

when he was hiding in a cave in Mount Horeb, fleeing from the wrath of Queen Jezabel and God demonstrated His power to him so he should not be scared of the pagan queen since God was with him.

or when he was hiding next to a small creek in the desert and God send ravens with bread & meat in the morning and in the evening and he was sustained for a year there.

or when he went to the King of Israel, denounced him in front of all the people and told him that there will not be rain until he will say so and it didn't rain for a long time until the King repented. Then Elijah pray and when his servant told him he saw just a tiny cloud the size of a fist, he told him "go tell the king that he needs to ran for cover from the thunderstorm is coming' (that always made me laugh as is kinda funny)...but it did rain...A LOT!

or when he divided the waters of the Jordan River by striking the water with his mantle

The issue isn't with remakes or doing biblical films right. The issue is just flat out greed. Greed has corrupted everything about Hollywood and it's the root cause of all these shit movies they're making. Back in the day films were done as art, or to tell a story, or even to entertain. Today their only purpose is to make money.
