liked it. continues MCU's prolific record of making good movies. good writing, good new characters, good development of old characters (great acting from downey jr imo), and they successfully dealt with the biggest challenge that faces a new superhero movie - who's the antagonist/villain gonna be, and how can we make him/her/them/it different from those in previous movies?

have to say though, as a viewer superhero fatigue is still continuing to settle in. this is now two big movies - Avengers 2 and this - where the problems were all ultimately created by the superheroes themselves. in avengers 2 they were just battling to stop a villain which only existed because of the avengers, and it's kinda similar in this movie too. the basic premise of these superheroes is that they're around to save people from bad things; if they're spending most of their time fighting threats which they themselves caused/attracted, then it gets a bit silly.

black panther, the new spiderman, ant man's performance, all excellent.

It is a continuation/sequel. That is why it had the same vein as 'Ultron'. The events from previous films, particularly Ultron is what causes the UN to intervene and try to regulate the actions of The Avengers

    i watched this recently

    it sucks :dunno:

for me it sucks because Iron Man sucks, him and his ridiculous magical suit that does everything
i didnt watch a movie called 'Captain America' to see Iron Man half the time

the 2nd Captain America movie was far far better
    i'd rate them like this:
    Part 1 - 6.5
    Part 2 - 8
    Part 3 - 6

I agree wiht you about the Iron-Man inclusion. Its almost like Robert Downey Jr has more control within the MCU than people know....and because it´s Robert Downey Jr, who has a masive ego, it wouldnt surprise me re: ´Creative Control´

I didn´t think it ruined the movie though. The inclusion of the Winter Soldier is a bit boring though. Just a weak-ass, non-interesting character.

I think the Winter Soldier is pretty freaking cool and in fact I was kind of sorry they put him on ice. He's a better warrior than Hawkeye and Black Widow and more interesting than both. His bionic arm is cool too.

Iron Man had to be a big part of this story because he was the other side of the Civil War antagonist from the comic book. Would it have made you feel better RWtP's if they had named the movie Captain America vs Iron Man? I think the Scarlet Witch is the most uninteresting character out of all the Avengers.

I agree with Hawkeye and Black Widow: never really liked the latter and I know they even things out with them being the weakest members, but maybe time to sack em off and bring in Black Panther and The Vision more.
Also, do away with Falcon and War-Machine.

I didnt say it ruined the movie at all. Its the best of the whole MCU.
I just think its time to bring in new characters. Maybe follow the comics and have Clint Barton become Goliath or something

It was definitely more about captain America than it was about iron man, nevertheless it was more an avengers film than a captain America film.

    No chance.
When I first started collecting Marvel Comics, Black Panther and Luke Cage/Power-Man were just starting to make massive in-roads into the comic-world.
    Both faves!

Actually I was referring that part of my post to Roll With The Punches.

I wouldn't say definitely more. I felt it was pretty even with maybe a tad bit more being about Cap.

Naming it "Avengers Civil War" could have worked but the studio wouldn't want to waste the Avenger title when they've got a much bigger Avenger product in the works. Taking that into consideration, I think "Marvel's Civil War" would have worked as the best title

i didn't feel he really was....he was about 60/40 with Iron Man, and only established as the 'good guy' at the end cos Iron Man went crazy...with a different final 30min it could have almost been an Iron Man movie
it was definitely an Avengers movie

they should have just stuck to the formula of having Captain America against some bad guys

    6/10

It was more about captain America because it was in part a sequel to Winter Soldier, since the film started with Cap and Falcon wanting to locate Bucky and when they do wanting to bring him in safely etc. The film was essentially about cap protecting Bucky which lead to the conflict with the other avengers. Plus the great opening action sequence was all about captain America and his team.

However every avenger had a moment to shine and iron mans role was central to the ending twist but it was definitely more about Captain America (because of Bucky) than it was about Iron Man

But then it just becomes formulaic, diluted and ultimately weak.
This is exactly why Marvel gets repeat success, movie after movie - by changing stuff up.

these movies are for the 'dems some big explosions' market...it's the action scenes, effects, and big budgets that get the success
i'm sure no one even remembers what any of the movies were actually about

lol, that emoticon makes me laugh.

Like I said, it had a great plot.

Government wanting to regulate the avengers, especially after latest incident involving Cap and SCARLET witch. Iron man agreeing because of feeling personal guilt. Cap disagreeing because he doesn't trust government control. Some siding with cap some siding with Stark. Winter soldier set up by some guy who bombed a UN conference resulting in the death of black panthers dad, causing black panther to swear revenge against him. Cap going out of his way to protect his friend who he believes is innocent. Some mysterious dude starts controlling Bucky which further suggests his guilt but cap finds out otherwise, causing further rift in the team. Meanwhile black panther is hellbent on killing winter soldier leading to epic confrontations. Cap finds out from Bucky about plan to release winter soldiers and knows he needs to recruit superheroes to stop them. Iron man knows he needs team of Heroes to stop Caps team. Civil war!!! After war there's a nice twist in which Bucky had been the one who killed Starks parents. Leads to epic climatic three way battle between cap/Bucky and iron man.

Man, if you didn't enjoy the plot you must be crazy (Muhammad Ali voice).

Which ironically, makes it an Iron-Man movie being as Downey Jr is all over the fucking Avengers franchise.

Who else was it that said they were a bit fed-up of Iron-Man? Was it you, Sly? :dunno:
