    Ouch!

It looks like Canelo Alvarez is not able to repeat the 900,000 ppvs he did against Miguel Cotto last November. In fact many are now wondering if it was in fact COTTO the one who attracted the majority of those buys as Canelo's magnetic star continues fading. His bout with Amir Khan, who has as many fans as Alvarez, produced barely 500,000 ppv buys. Now in his last bout with Liam Smith it looks like the ppv numbers will be between 250,000-300,000. Same numbers he did on 2014 against Erislandy Lara. And if he fights someone else next not named Golovkin you can bet the buys will be even lower.

Ironically GGG bout with Kell Brook produced 500,000 ppv buys which is MORE than the supposedly megastar of boxing. I guess GGG can say he is now at the driver's seat?

This is nothing new. Canelo nut lickers constantly overrate his star power in an attempt to justify why he should dictate the terms over Golov.

Canelo is NOT some young Tyson, young Leonard, young Oscar level superstar.

There's still mainstreamers who don't know who tf he is. And most of them who DO know who he is, ALSO know who Golov is.

So, there goes the argument "But.... He's the DRAW. Golov has to bend over...."

Clearly, that's not the case. They need to fight EACHOTHÈR to generate big PPV buys. Neither one is gonna do it fighting anybody else.... with the exception of Floyd.

After two straight PPV flops, you would THINK that Canelo's next postponement, errr Ummm I mean tune-up fight, will be on regular HBO.

  6. After two straight PPV flops, you´d also think the guy actually responsible for Canelo-Golovkin not happening would now be re-thinking the busine$$-plan.

how was alvarez vs khan a flop? it did 500k for that fucking mismatch. that was actually a great number. he also had 14 million homes watching in mexico to dispose of that last euro, and 50k in attendance.

i think he's vastly over rated ability wise but as a draw he is tops in the game right now

Seriously he didn't drew as much as the Cotto fight with Liam Smith??? Yeah surely that's Canelo's PPV appeal shrinking here...

    Right?

More Importantly, Canelo-Smith Had Quite Possibly THE Worst PPV Undercard Ever, Yet it Still Did BETTER Numbers than GGG-Lemueux, Which was Thought to be a Fan Friendly Fight (On Paper), Featuring THE Best Fighter in the World on the Undercard....

    This Doesn't Increase GGG's Leverage @ All....

apparently delahoya is offering golovkin 10 million flat. is that fair?

if the fight does 1 million buys at 75$ that is 37.5 mill to split. 27.5 for alvarez and 10 for golovkin.

if the fight does 1.5 million buys (closer to reality i expect) at 75$ that is 56.25 mill to split with alvarez receiving 46.25 mill.

plus whatever international money, gate, etc that would go to golden boy/alvarez.

My initial statement about the Cotto bout were not to compare it directly with the Smith numbers, but overall for each subsequent bout as you can see he started high (Floyd bout) then made a decent number for the Cotto fight, but much lower than the expectations and each following bout the numbers keep shrinking. Floyd could fight a bum he pick from the street and will make Khan numbers to be honest. Heck even if Cotto fight next against any guys like those two he will do better numbers! So if Canelo is indeed the biggest attraction in boxing, then the sport is in a bigger crisis than we thought. Also if Canelo wants to command huge salaries he needs to start facing more worthy opponents than Kahn or Smith.

As Loooooooong as There's No Built In CAP on GGG's Take for a Possible RE, 10 Mil is MORE than Fair...That's 2wice as Much as GGG's EVER Made...

GGG is 34 Years Old and DEVOID of Even 1 Signature Win...He NEEDS This Fight Faaaaaaaaaaaaar More than Canelo Does...If GGG Takes "Short" Money This 1 Time, and BEATS Canelo, he's the NEW Shot Caller Financially, Moving Forward...

If he REALLY Wants a "Big" Fight, Here it Is...For 2wice as Much as he's EVER Made in his Life...

    That's FAIR...

Alvarez is running out of options if he doesnt take the golovkin fight next year. he wont stay at 154 and defend his WBOGUS title against andrade. who is there at middleweight for him? the fight is too big not to happen, golovkin has some leverage to where he shouldnt take a flat fee. 30%-35% of the total pot is fair

There's no question that it strengthens Golvkin's case, suggesting that Canelo isn't going to go from strength to strength in terms of numbers or earnings for GBP unless there's a strong B side...Golovkin deserves a bigger cut based on the projected pot, otherwise GBP could end up poisoning the well if they continue to avoid with smaller names or bang average JMWs

Hopefully these lousy "consolation bouts" that Canelo & GGG give us do poorly at the box office, giving them more reason to want to fight each other instead of cheating the fans and dragging the carrot in front of us like Floyd & Manny did for 5 years.

All they do is prey on fans' overemotional attachment/loyalty to their fighters, playing the PR game, looking for ways to make it "the other guy's fault", while fans eat it up and enable this nonsense by paying for these other fights.

Yeah, but, again, one of them wants the fight now, the other wants it when his man is too old to be at his best.

I doubt Alvarez vs. Khan even did 500k....maybe 350-400K....and this last fight against SMITH.....200K MAX...maybe if they lucky...mexican boxing fans ain't dumb..

That's it. At this point GGG doesn't have the luxury of time. Even if he has to bend over a bit (and at 10 millions, it's not that much of a bend) to make this fight happens he has to do it. If he doesn't he'll be rebembered has a fraud who only fought powder puff (unless he moves up, which doesn't seems to be in his plan)

At this point he'll be remembered as a killer that fought in a weak division. You're trying hard to sell this "GGG's a bitch" angle but it doesn't really seem to be his fault and that is why boxing is a joke. It's all pr and Internet powers.

It's not his fault that Canelo is not willing to face him. It's his own damn fault that he refuse to move up a mere 8 pounds to take on the champs there, who all expressed interest in fighting him. And yes, if he would retire adter only fighting this kind of opposition, that would makes him a coward in my book. Hell, even a guy like Lucian Bute would be undefeated fighting the turd GGG has faced, and he would have also looked like a killer. But then, boxing fans are naive and most of them are always falling for the oldest trick in the sport. Boxing is a joke because the fans are happy with being feeded shit matchups, and are more interested in seeing superheroes (guys looking great against shitty opponents) than competitive matchup.

Just as a matter of interest, since just when did how much a guy made in his last fight determine how much he should make in his next fight :dunno:

Compound that basic issue with the fact that the REASON GGG hasn't made that much is that Canelo WON'T FUCKING FIGHT HIM

By that logic, if GGG fought Canelo, he could beat him, then ask Jacobs "Oh, how much did you make in your last fight, good boy, here's 50p"

It always helps to come from a small fanatical, priority-warped nation. With a trench of civil liberty crackdowns pinned to a major boost in sports funding :crafty: ,.. the Irish state lottery, managed by Tim Cook, divvied out to Connor Mcracker for daaaaays.

Millions of people, none of them from Cornwall, have been vicariously living off Floyds income for years.
