I thought it was 'now we find out' or something to that effect?

Actually, I think he said... "16 years from now our division will be ruled by a chubby Ginger who isn't as good as us."

I've asked my friend, a fluent Spanish speaker, to translate for me and he said Tito said something to this effect.

what an awesome fight in retrospect. somewhat one-sided, but credit to vargas for hanging in ad long as he did (all things considered).

Agreed. One of the few super fights that not only lived up to all expectations, but exceeded them.

Only thing that separates it from a Corrales-Castillo, which was a back and forth war, was like you said, it was a bit one sided.

Vargas definitely rallied in the middle rounds, but Tito took over again down the stretch. Vargas was fighting bravely late, which was adding to the drama, but getting beaten up.

He didn't say anything, he just babbled nonsense as usual. Tito was never the most intelligent guy.

Absolutely awesome fight. My personal favourite fight of all time.

The hype the build up and it exceeded all of that. Two undefeated 154lb champions in their primes and absolute peaks. The fight had everything...multiple knock downs, low blows, thumbing, cuts and swellings, ebb and flow, violent exchanges and classic knockout finish.

They don't make'em like that anymore.

It was a great fight for sure but Barrera-Morales 1 and Hamed-Kelley were both better.

I rate it higher than Castillo-Corrales. No question.

Castillo Corrales was a great fight, make no mistake and the finish was the most dramatic in history but two things it was lacking that tito Vargas had:

    1. Ebb and Flow - Tito came out strong and knocked Vargas down twice and looked on the verge of a KO. Vargas comes back in round 3 and 4 and gets a knock down of his own. After 5 rounds Vargas was a point ahead and looked to be in control. tito rallied back in the 6th round which was a high action round. Vargas comes again and looks to be cruising. Tito comes back in a dramatic 9th round which was a back and forth non stop war, then and only then did Tito take control and eventually finish it in the 12.

    2. Two undefeated guys in their prime with A class talent.

I can't argue with any of those fights. great fights too. Trinidad Vargas though had the best combination of ebb and flow, sustained action, drama and knockout finish.

In Barrera Morales no one was (legitimately) dropped. In Hamed-Kelley you didn't have the same eye catching skills on display....but it was a great great fight though (in fact, thinking about it, I'm going to watch it as soon as I get home, lol)

Corrales-Castillo was easily a better fight. It's not even up for debate. Were they on a lower tier than Trinidad & Vargas? Well, Corrales & Castillo were on a similar tier as Vargas. Trinidad was without question a level above all three, but that's kind of besides the point.

Corrales-Castillo was ALLLLLL ebb and flow. Corrales had the edge in the early rounds, and looked like he was too quick for Castillo. Then Castillo started smoking in the mid rounds and having his way. Then, just as it seems Castillo is wearing him, Corrales badly hurts Castillo. From there it seems like Chico's fight. But Castillo rallies, and ends up dropping Corrales twice. EVERYBODY on EARTH thinks the fight is over at that point. Then.... Chico makes the most miraculous comeback in the sport's history, and ends it in dramatic fashion. All the while, there was NO lulls in action whatsoever in the fight.

It was without question one of the best fights of all time, and way above Tito-Vargas.

lol at Corrales-Castillo, not having ebb and flow. It had a lot more ebb and flow than Trinidad-Vargas

Personally, while I think Trinida-vargas was a good fight, it's a bit overrated because of the event surrounding the fight

Yeah, who knows where the Hell he got that from. Vargas won three rounds. Got his ass kicked for the other 9, which included the last round where he got KO'd. Where's the tremendous ebb n flow?

Corrales-Castillo was in question until the very end. At NO point did one of them have clear control.

Especially considering the last round was the microcosm of ebb and flow

 I still can't believe Tito tried to feed Hopkins those rocky and bullwinkle wraps my pet - you ever hear of reverse empathy? was never gonna happen, he knows all about that sort of hustle.

Tito was left looking like quite the code-named penis-tongued raven , quite.

It's hard to catch, but it's something to the effect "That's right, here we are now."

Then Eduardo Garcia says We're gonna see right now."

I had forgotten that Tito and Fernando didn't touch gloves during their staredown.

Last round was, rest of the fight was just high energy action and aggression, which is a good thing make no mistake, but neither fighter was in peril and there were no dramatic shifts in momentum until the final round of the fight.

With Tito-Vargas, Tito was dramatically in charge for the first two rounds (looked like he was going to KO Vargas in the 1st), then Vargas with the help of a thumbing had Tito reeling in the 3rd and then he knocked him down in the 4th. Vargas then dominated the fifth and looked on his way to victory. Tito came back in the sixth and it was back and forth until Tito took over the fight after the 9th. Both guys were in jeopardy throughout the fight.

Corrales Castillo dialed up the drama late in the fight, up to that point every round was competitive.

I can accept that argument. It was a great fight for sure. I just happen to prefer Tito-Vargas for the reasons given.

    I will say, I'd take Tito-Vargas over MAB-Morales.

I find MAB-Morales to be overrated.

Agreed. THe first few rounds of the first fight were insane. After a while, it just went into a pattern and you knew they wouldn't ko each other.

Agreed. I actually prefer MAB-Morales 3 to the first fight. Although the first fight was indeed excellent.

When you think back though, the 00s had some great fights. The entire Barrera/Morales/Marquez/Pacquiao series was great fun, for example.

    Exactly.

Hell, to me, Tua-Ike was a better fight than MAB-Morales.
