based on true events basically means fiction. If it were based on a true story, then it would be more accurate. That being said, this movie is getting great reviews.
Well, Mike Williams (who survived the Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster), was present on set for the majority of filming and said that what is portrayed in the film is all accurate. It doesn't focus mainly on the disaster itself but of the workers who lost their lives.
Watched it last night. Great movie....if youre into offshore-drilling techniques, blow-out preventers, well-integrity tests, etc..... Otherwise, walk away and watch The Towering Inferno, (again) instead. 6/10
