I don't know anything about the story, character, comic? is it? I don't know...but it looks like a mix of the Matrix...and Inception....

  2. WTF??
Doctor Strange is one of the most iconic characters of Marvel´s ´Silver Age´, that is 1955-1970.

´Doctor Strange was a brilliant but egotistical surgeon. After a car accident destroys his hands and hinders his ability to perform surgery, he searches the globe for a way to repair them and encounters the Ancient One. After becoming one of the old Sorcerer Supreme's students, he becomes a practitioner of both the mystical arts as well as martial arts. Along with knowing many powerful spells, he has a costume with two mystical objects—the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamotto—which give him added powers. Strange is aided along the way by his friend and valet, Wong, and a large assortment of mystical objects. He takes up residence in a mansion called the Sanctum Sanctorum, located in New York City. Later, Strange takes the title of Sorcerer Supreme´

IMO, best artist was Gene Colan, 1960s-70s who was real trippy:

Gene Colan & Steve Dikto were the best Doctor Strange artists.

Dikto draw one of the most iconic images that became a bestseller poster in the early 70's.

but bottom line they were just channeling the awesomeness of the master, Jack Kirby!

The film was screened for critics in NY & LA and critics loved it! While some didn't thought much of the plot and others don't think is among the top 5 Marvel films, all are unanimous that the action sequences are unique and phenomenal and that this film NEEDS to be watched in 3D as it features the best and trippiest CGI 3D effects ever put on film!

  7. Apparently, its been leaked that Dormammu makes an appearance in this movie!

It would make sense then, as he was first mentioned by Baron Mordo and this to tie all this in with The Avengers, Loki and Thanos...etc

Those critics are retards and so are you if you're actually getting excited over action sequences and CGI at the expense of plot. I've seen several films that boasted that kind of foundation and I can say with absolute certainty that they all sucked. Without plot, action sequences and CGI make for a shit film such as Transformers, or G.I. Joe, or Wrath Of The Titans. Those critic reviews should have been seen as a negative, not a positive and it kind of looks like you're letting them brainwash you by painting a turd in bright colors.

    1. It was only a handful reviews that didn't thought much of the plot, not because it was bad, but because they were apparently expecting 'Inception Part 2', but instead got 'another superhero origin story with a love interest and a villain'...which is like saying 'I am disappointed that Michelangelo's Sistine Chapels murals don't look like Picasso's'.
    2. Most of the reviews are saying the plot is very good and feels different from prior Marvel films. They also praise Cumberbatch & Swinton's performances.
    3. The reviews are not pointing out that the special effects are the only good thing about it, but that they are so great it is worth the hiked priced of an IMAX 3D screening.

I don't think this will appeal to me I'm thinking of skipping it. I'll wait and see what some of the guys on here say about it.

  11. Oh.

Looks a bit shit, to be honest. :dunno:

I think this movie could be a bit of downturn for Marvel. If it beats Ant-Man, box-office-wise I think Marvel will be happy.
Most of the MCU fans are not really into the whole "magic" woo-woo angle - once you add magic, it becomes a free-for-all and the writers can basically get away with anything. :dunno:

Currently holding a 98% fresh score at RT :mj:
Only 1 Rotten review...which I guess is a pissed DC fan or an alias for Rainmaker.

  13. Means fuck-all though.
Suicide Squad got destroyed by RT and IMDB yet smashed it at the BO.

I haven't seen it either. I'm gonna wait for the director's cut that comes out in a couple months.

  17. Come on, cunts...you all been jerking-off over this for months....it's been out 2 days and no-one's reviewed it yet!!!

The visuals are some of the best I've seen in cinematic history. Fantastic. Decent story. I thought it would be a slow build up until he starts using abilities but it's quick. Batman Vs Superman should have taken notes.

  22. Good film. I give it 8-8.5 out of 10 as well. Marvel doesn't disappoint yet again. It wasn't as good as the better Marvel films like Galaxy, Civil War and the first Avengers, but it was rather entertaining nonetheless. Perhaps a little too Inception/Matrix like at times with teh special effects that got you a little dizzy but it was well acted and had a nice plot.

I will say though, although obviously much much better, it was reminiscent of Green Lantern. Equivalent abilities, training and ending.

  23. Dr Strange to appear in Thor: Ragnarok!

As shown post-credits of this new movie - Strange asks Thor if he wants a cuppa tea to which Thor refuse and has a stein of beer....they then discuss finding Loki and taking him back to Asgard!!

Plus the Eye Of Agamoto is the next Infinity Stone/ Gem.

Okay that's that out of the way for Panchy....now the overall movie was REALLY trippy and captured the classic art of the comics from the 1960s!!
Just enough humor, standard Marvel action/fights, lots of talk about dimensions, time-zones, other worlds, mystical arts and AMAZING visuals make this yet again another Marvel smash!!
Watch it in 3D IMAX (fuck you Anthony) and you'll walk away happy!

    8/10

  24. Well since you already spoiled the film, I'll talk about the infinity stone: sweet! I figured an infinity stone would show up in this film, because we had two stones left to be revealed before infinity wars and this film was likely to feature one of them as you wouldn't expect Spider-man or Black Panther to feature one. It was the Time Stone. So I expect to see the Soul Stone in Ragnarok or Guardians 2.

    Fun film.

  25. Me? Spoil a movie??
    Nevahhhhh!!!

    Doctor Strange (2016)
Marvel Studios does it again in its fourteen comicbook movie adaptation. Doctor Strange is a high octane psychedelic trip that delivers the goods and leaves you with a big smile in your face. Benedict Cumberbatch is perfectly cast as the arrogant surgeon who embarks on a mystic journey to Kathmandu searching for a cure to his damaged hands. While the 'training sequence' was fun, it felt a little rushed in the sense that he master his mystic arts skills quite fast. Tilda Swinton is so good she made me forget that the Ancient One was originally a male character. Swinton is believable in her role. Mads Mikkelsen does a decent job as the baddie Kaecilius even though his motives are little muddled to begin with. Chiwetel Ejiofor is also good as Baron Mordo, whom we see here as Doctor Strange's allied, but we know he will become his fiercest enemy (oops, I think I am spoiling the sequel!). Director Scott Derrickson does a marvelous job here particularly in the action sequences and the special effects which will no doubt deserve an Academy award for excellence. What wasn't so good about it...the 'romantic' relationship with Rachel McAdams was poorly written and never felt there was a real connection between those two. Strange is too much of an arrogant asshole for much of the film and we never see the transition to a humble spiritual sorcerer. The 'face' of Dormarmu was almost cartoonish as well as his cliché voice that has been done a million times for evil demons since 1974 when the Exorcist came up with that trick. However the good things outweights the flaws as this is a very entertaining film that is best experienced in an IMAX giant screen. 8.5/10

  29. Reminded me of the ending of ´The Lawnmoer Man´.

I fucking can´t get on with Tilda ´Weird´ Swinton either...or Rachel McAdams´ character....
