Prime Roy was plain and simple a level above both Kov and Ward. He'd have defeated both.

    The real question is this:

Was Jones' chin RUINED by the move down from heavyweight at that age, or did he always have Marvis Frazier Whiskers but we just didn't know because of how fast and elusive he was? Because if Jones' chin wasn't that strong all along, he could have ben in trouble vs Kovalev who WOULD have hit him from time to time

Roy took some flush shots against Griffin the first time, and in the first Tarver fight he took some too. Hard to say, though. If he hid a bad chin for all those years, it's just a testament to now only how gifted he was, but also how SMART he was too.

you are right that we do not know the answer to that question. but i think many people are quick to give rjj the benefit of the doubt and continue celebrating his out of this world status.

Wins over Toney and Hopkins cannot be overstated.

Plus having moved up to heavyweight to win a belt is no small feat.

Achievement wise Roy may not be the greatest pound 4 pound, but I dare say he is easily the most talented/gifted fighter I have ever seen. Young Whitaker comes close. But Roy was a true freak of nature and IMO was THAT DAMN GOOD. For me, the GOAT 168 pounder.

I tend to agree. I have to admit that I thought of him as the perfect fighter in the 90s. At the time I said he was the best fighter that ever lived.

Pity he had to end his career the way he did, because I have doubts about his chin and resolve. However as you said, we must not forget that he beat a Prime Hopkins and Toney.

Fuck..>Roy...hokins...Toney.....it's about Kova vs. Ward...and after rewatching there last 3-4 fights...I'm not sure anymore....Kova is too awkward, slow, and not very accurate....but he is STRONG as a BULL and Ward CHIN isn't iron..but he knows how to win...he has STRATEGY.......

YES!!!!Kova is strong AS a BULL...but he is weak of heart....Ward should punch him in the face a lot and clinch....n repeat for 3-4 rounds...make Kova ANGRY and DESPERATE...then in round 5 Ward take out his cock n smack Kova across the face with it.....no not literally...Ward should expose his chin...out high in the air beg Kova to hit him....."HIT ME you WHITE BITCH!!!" ALLAH willing Ward can take the shot...eat that SHIT....n in the process take Kova's HEART...

by round 6 Kova is on his knees tears flowing down his face as Ward is standing infront of him swining side to side slamming his half/half meat on the Russia bear gill.

Why do you think Ward likes to cuddle so much? - At the least, his physical strength will negate whatever strength you believe Kovalev to have, Froch was stunned at Ward's strength, and claimed that as an integral part of why he lost the fight, so you might slice that off your rations, and once you do, you're left with pretty much nothing, inferior up close with short scuffs and body busts, and a speed disadvantage at range, Ward has every distance covered, Kovalev is due to look like a European, and you'll be a dunce, but happy. :crafty:

And now Ward is fighting at a higher weight and has added muscle. He looks stronger now and it looks like he's punching harder too.

Stronger maybe. But he was never a puncher to begin with, so I'd be fairly surprised if he scored a KO.

If Ward wins, I think it'll be with clever defense, movement, and counter punching.

If he goes into the trenches with Kovalev, I think he'll have bad luck in there.

Yeah. I have Ward. You have Kov. Straight up bet. No odds.

    I win, you're down $50. You win, we're even.

(In case you didn't remember, our original bet was Cotto-Canelo at 2/1 odds. I would have paid you $50 if Cotto won. He lost and you're down $25.)

changing my pick. Think that Kovalev jab will trouble Ward a lot, and that he will eventually hit him with something big that changes the dynamic of the fight
