    Froch lost 9-3.

He had a moment or two late, but it was never a question. It's not like you were thinking "Ward is gonna blow this..."

Ward was never out of control in the whole fight, and some rounds were so one sided that they easily coulda been 10-8.

Yes, Kov is a much better fighter than Froch. Hits much harder, has better speed, and is much more technically skilled. On paper, he should push Ward to the limit.

I just have a bad feeling. I suspect that Kov MIGHT have some front runner in him, and will get frustrated after being outboxed for awhile.

I watched that fight again recently and whilst Froch did a bit better than I thought he did at the time he still lost clearly. Those 115-113 cards were insane.

People misremember that fight because Ward swept the first six or seven rounds so clearly that it skewed opinions. Froch took an absolute hiding in the first half of the fight but clearly won at least four of the last six rounds and arguably five. Ward was blowing out of his arse in the last few rounds and was basically doing everything he could to not engage.

Ward definitely won the fight, 7-5 at worst, but the perception that Froch 'lost terribly' is false. If the fight was a 15-rounder he may well have won it. Ward looked fucking knackered by the end.

I had it 7-5 at the time and haven't rewatched it since. The difference is that Froch won his rounds clearly enough but Ward won some of his rounds at an absolute canter - X is right that some of them were so one-sided they could have been scored 10-8s.

Agreed. I'm a huge Froch fan, but he lost rather wide, and never really was in the fight, or at least he never looked like he had a shot at winning it.

Ward seems more focused on talking about Golov than Kov. Which is pointless, since there's no way Ward-Golov is ever gonna happen now.

I really really hope he's underestimating Kov's ability, which I think he might be. The little he says about Kov, he talks about him as if he's a crude, one dimensional slugger, which is false.

I hope Kov beats the fuck outta this clown. No quick KO. I want Ward to take a prolonged beating.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Kov's taking Ward more seriously than the reverse. Ward is coming across like he believes he's invincible, whereas Kov knows if he's not on his game he can lose. Usually in cases like that, fighter B wins.

I'm still picking Ward, but I PRAY that Kov ruins this dickhead.

Yeah I can. Used to train with a former ukrainian amateur champ. Showed me how to do it. It's a pretty common technique in eastern europe (Beterbiev does it also)

The last time I remember seeing a fighter use the focus ball was, of all people, Billy Schwer before he fought Stevie Johnston. Looks impressive for sure.

Has Kovalev ever been 'wobbled' at 175?
Has Ward ever 'wobbled' anyone of note?
