Trinidad Mayorga wasn't bad. What really sucked was when I bet $1,500 on Trinidad to defeat Winky Wright. Ouch!

 

In fairness, that was a pretty big upset. I was confident Tito was gonna kick Wright's ass. Was pretty shocking.

 

It wasn't an upset, Tito didn't have the wraps for that one.

The way we know for a fact that this was a corrupt, bought, paid for, piece of shit, black eye to boxing, fucking shit decision is because all three judges gave Ward the last 6 rounds, one of the judges gave him the last 7 rounds. You got that, ALL OF THE JUDGES, ALL OF THEM, GAVE WARD ROUNDS 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 AND 12, ONE OF THEM ALSO GAVE HIM ROUND 6, FUCK OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!

I remember disagreeing with Lederman on round 3, I thought Ward won that round. After 8 rounds I had it 4 rounds a piece and after 9 rounds I had it even on points (5-4 ward). I recall Kovalev and Ward splitting the 10th and 11th making it an even fight going into the 12th. I thought Ward won the 12th closely...giving him a one point victory.

Many rounds were tough to score, but I thought Ward was more accurate. Kovalev was pressing the attack more but he was looking sloppy, tired and missing quite a bit.

I can see a case for Kovalev winning too....but as I said at the time, I don't think of that fight as a robbery either way, regardless of who won. It was a pretty evenly matched fight.

 

If there were no knockdowns you would have a point. However, with the KD it's just too much of a stretch to believe it was a coincidence that all 3 judges just so happen to believe Ward was dominating in such fashion the second half of the fight. Imagine if Ward hadn't been KD and instead scored a KD in the 11th or 12th and Kov had won the unanimous decision. Would you consider it corrupt in that case?

 

exactly. If the role were reversed, you can bet that Ward would still have gotten the decision. It's not the most terrible robbery ever, but in a fight with so many close rounds, the guy who scores the KD and won the clearer rounds deserved to win. No way does someone who's unbiased/corrupted, has Ward sweeping the last half of the fight

 

Watching it now....and after 6 rounds I only gave Ward one round....and it was a close round..

So i better see Ward sweep the next 6 rounds....

 

rOUND 7 to WARD...but it was close...one or two jabs by Ward, HBO crew try to make it like he landed a right hand from hell that drop/wobbled Kova....nothing much else other than clinching from Ward..

 

Okay Ward won round 8 easily.

 

Round 9: HBO commentator spent the round telling us how great WARD was doing....and Kova won the round easily...

 

Round 10: to KOva....so that's it....7 rounds to Kova + knockdown...

but I must say...Kova has been looking tired and weak in round 7-10....but he still was landing the more visually compelling punches. WARD looking stronger he threw his punches with bad intentions.

 

Round 11:...Kova...regardless of what hbo commentators saying...

Just rewatched it on YouTube and I still get the same 7-5 rounds score I originally had.

Ward did some really good work in the 2nd half of the fight but for me, not enough to actually WIN... I really can't give him more than 5 rounds.

But yes, hopefully a rematch happens and I do believe this fight had a rematch clause.
