15 rounds at 147 and 154 lbs. I'm one of the bigger Trinidad supporters here and he has become criminally underrated in recent years. That said, my call is Leonard via stoppage in 13 rounds. But I do think Trinidad does Bette than expected here. Unlike Oscar, Ray wouldn't just run so there would be some exchanges. But by the mid rounds, I see Leonard having figured Trinidad out and he's become progressively more dominant. His body shots would debilitate Tito in the latter rounds as well. Leonard TKO 13
I think Ray would stop Tito late. I agree that Leonard would fight him more aggressively than Oscar did. That would give Tito more opportunities to land, but it also means he'd be taking a lot more in return.
Leonard wins but he's not as big and negative as Hopkins and he's not going to meringue dance around non stop like Oscar. He'd get hit a bit, Trinidad could box with him to some extent, but unless he really gets his shit rattled he should win a decision or maybe hurt Tito and force a stoppage at some point. When you watch how lil Duran was able to seriously rock Leonard and leave him dazed and holding on for a while, Trinidads chances shouldn't be as laughable as some would make out. No real logic to favor Tito though.
I agree 100%. Trinidad could hurt Leonard if he connected the right way. And I definitely don't think he gets the Ranzany treatment. But I think with Duran, there was a certain wild unpredictability that served him well against Leonard to fight a a frenetic pace for 15 rounds. Trinidad was more finesse minded with his attack. That would be easier for Ray to deal with. I think for the first half of the fight, Trinidad is in it. I think he lands some good shots in exchanges, possibly hurts Leonard enough to keep him respectful early. But Ray was like a computer in analyzing his opponents. He'd figure the right strategy and turn the fight in his favor and I think his incredible stamina and powerful body shots break Tito down eventually.
