Ahhhhh, here we go: this movie is an entire re-hash of LOTS of scenes and quotes from the first three movies, just very cleverly disguised and ever-so-slightly changed so the ´Fan-Faggots´ are too excited to notice.
See if you guys can notice all of them...its a ´Plagarist´s Paradise´

Of course, its got a few more Blacks & Asians in it to level things up, Policitcal-Correctness-wise (I think there´s even a fucking Rebel Muslim in there somewhere, too)

Darth Vader is only in this movie...right at the end, when he light-sabers a load of Rebel troops

Plus they use some clever morphing-technique to make Princess Leia appear at the end also

It basically ends with the Rebel soldiers stealing the Death Star plans and making their escape in the Alliance ship as seen at start of ´STAR WARS´ - with the Imperial Destroyer in pursuit

    5/10
(and that´s just be scan-watching through it, bored)

Just saw it. Kinda boring to be honest with you. I liked the serious tone of the film and the plot but it wasn't a great film in the execution. It was nice to see them bring back Peter Cushing and the film ended exactly where Star Wars - A New Hope began, so that's good. Definitely NOT as good as The Force Awakens.

I liked the fact that the Storm Troopers weren't clones of that Samoan/Hawaiian Jango Fett.

And the fact they're tagging it as 'Star Wars for Adults' is fucking embarrassing too.

Like 'the prequel all the 40-somethings always wanted'...

    Huh? :scratcher:
    Seriously. ...fuck off and die.

Rogue One The first spin-off Star Wars anthology film blasts off this weekend to big box office numbers and some mixed reactions. As you already know this is the story of how rebel spies managed to steal the secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon the Death Star. This is the first film in the Star Wars universe that has no Jedi knights nor is about the Skywalker family. We have new characters that will not show up in any sequel as this is a self contained stand-alone film. So since we already kind of know how this will end, there isn't that many surprises except for the many Easter eggs scattered through out the film. The main strength of this film is that is a gritty believable, realistic war film that was exactly what the Star Wars franchise needed since being called Star Wars there wasn't much war in the previous films to be completely honest. Felicity Jones does a good job as Jyn Erso the most fleshed out character in the film. Diego Luna character is properly dashing and brave. Donnie Yen almost steals the movie as he is the coolest character: a Force-sensitive blind warrior who can dispose of a bunch of stormtroopers with a freaking stick! Ben Mendelsen as Director Krennic is perfect as the main antagonist whose ambition is his biggest weakness. The space battle is probably the best in all the franchise history and the ground battle at planet Scarif has a 'Saving Private Ryan' feel that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The first two acts of the film keeps things at a slower pace, but once our Rogue One heroes land on the Empire base the whole tone goes rollercoaster mode in heartpounding action packed third act that SHITS on the entire The Force Awakens movie...and I liked that film.
On the other hand this is not a perfect film and its flaws are obvious. The biggest one is that while the first two acts takes things slow it does not fleshes out its characters enough for us to care that much. So whenever one of them meets his doom we are not as emotionally involved as when Jyn reunites with her dad; a scene that indeed moisted more than a few eyes. Also the trailers were misleading as many scenes in those trailers are not in this film which I am certain were the scrapped sequences that the studio deleted and asked for rewrite and reshoots which leads me to the film biggest flaw: the new ending that we got kinda of sucks in comparison with what seemed Garret Edwards original shoot shown in the trailers. Also while it was a real treat to see Peter Cushing's CGI Grand Moff Tarkin, his character was given more screen time and dialogue than in the original 1977 film and by giving some uneeded close-up we can clearly see he is cgi.
The final sequence with Darth Vader was the coolest thing that character has ever done and that alone was worth the admission price for me.8/10

We did not got these scenes of what seemed a more intense film:

    where was this chase sequence?

    or this epic action scene...

or what seemed like the Jyn versus Vader scene?

or the Jyn lines 'This is the Rebellion, right? I rebel!"

or Forrest Whitaker speech about 'what will you do when they capture...what will you become?"

Director Krennic pensive & that awesome shot of his cape swirling over the beach water...

I want to see THAT version dammit!!!:pan:

I saw it too. Thought it was pretty good and well paced and I liked most of the characters. It was definitely better than the Force Awakens but let's be serious here, that's not saying much.

I think my problem with these films is I just don't really enjoy spaceship dog fights and gun fights with laser blasters all that much. If they make 16 more of these films you're going to get the same space ship battles and laser gun shoot outs that will look exactly like the ones that happened in every other Star Wars film. Even though that was the case in this film I still enjoyed it because the story wasn't such an obvious rehash like the Force Awakens was, although there were some strong similarities to Return Of The Jedi. The scene at the end with Princess Leia actually gave me goose bumps. For me it's a one time only watch but unlike TFA I actually enjoyed this one time watch. 6/10.

Hollywood Racist Moment - When the rebels are discussing whether to fight or flee how come the main cowardly voice against fighting had to be a black person.

I think the problem people have with force awakens is that it's basically a remake of A New Hope with a great deal of Empire Strikes back mixed in. It seems too familiar to them. I on the other hand LOVE IT for precisely those reasons. We needed a reset and a get back to what we grew up with (after those prequel abortions)...and I enjoyed the new take on it. Force Awakens on its own is a very enjoyable film. Rogue One is ONLY enjoyable in the context of having followed the series already.

Well that's one problem with the film. Another is it just had a lot of senseless and stupid situations. Also the hero of the film had to be the universal master of beginners luck. Everything she did no matter if it was her first time or not, she was a master at it. And that scene on the ship with those man eating monsters was the ultimate wtf for me.

I agree...some of those things were silly. She seemed to have all the skills of a fully trained Jedi. This reminds me of Jurassic world in a sense with a reboot of a franchise to make it more like the original but where they feel the need to expedite the situation as fast as possible and in the process do so to often ludicrous levels - remember the girl outrunning a T Rex wearing a skirt and high heels? lol

Still, like Jurassic world, I was able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the film. Force awakens had a great plot and very cool action sequences and a good overall feel. It had you engaged from start to finish. Rogue one only came alive in the last 3rd. I was falling asleep during the first hour and a half.

Both The Force Awakens & Rogue One were fan-friendly films, but TFA was too 'safe' by rehashing everything that was cool or loved from 'A New Hope' & 'The Empire Strikes Back'. It was more fun and family friendly, but ultimately gave us nothing new if you also count Kylo Ren as the Vader wanna be he was. R1 was more bold in giving us no jedi, no beloved classic lead characters (cameos don't count), no Skywalker saga, no cute funny moments and instead gave us an original raw WAR film, the one we were salivating for since The Empire Strikes Back...plus it dare to kill ALL the films heroes!!! Dammit, that was great! Comparing R1 to TFA is like comparing Alien to Bambi.

R1 just gave us the backstory of the original film's scrawl titles. Tell me what was stolen? It filled the blanks from the gaps of a New Hope nicely like explaining why there was a shaft built to destroy the Death Star. This was the fans main beef for decades so this film explained it was there on PURPOSE! We also saw where Darth Vader hangs around in his spare time when he is not chasing rebel scums. We saw that the original Red Five pilot died in R1 thus Luke simply replaced him which explains how he got the Red Five spot anyway.

I had a few problems with Rogue One though:

The Rebellion/Aliance only just found out about the existence of the Death Star...only JUST before stealing the plans. Also, the Rebel Alliance did not even sanction the trip to steal the plans because the majority didn't seem to believe the story. That's at odds from what we understood in the first star wars film. Secondly...Princess Leia should have had a far bigger role in this film and shouldn't have only showed up at the end at the behest of her adoptive father. Previously, you got the sense that Leia had been front and center of the rebellion long before she met Luke and Han. That's why Governor Tarkin and Vader were so familiar with her when they captured her.

Im not a Star Wars fan but i got dragged to this...

    - Overall 5/10. Probably higher if your into the series.

    - the 3d was weak. Like it basically added nothing to the movie, despite many opportunities there were very few pan scenes that really bring out 3d

    - it was cool seeing Darth shit-kick some folks.

    - the Storm troopers were beyond retarded, as expected. Continues to add comedic value to these movies. Its almost as if they hate their lives and relish the opportunity to walk head first into a hail of lasers with their guns resting impotently at their sides.

Sorry, my friend, but you are wrong on all accounts!
    1. The Death Star was a secret project; even in the first film there is enough info that points at that.
    2. The Rebel Alliance did not sanctioned the rebel assault at first not because they didn't believed it, but because some were voicing it would be suicide and others wanted just to surrender, give up. Not enough consensus to make such a bold move based just on Jyn's story that there was a flaw built into it and that stealing the plans was ultimately necessary.
    3. This was the story of Jyn Erso and her companions stealing the death Star plans. Giving more screen time to Leia would have been too distracting. I though that her having just a brief cameo was appropriate. And no, Leia was NOT front and center of the rebellion even in the original trilogy. She was pretending to be on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan and she was well known to Tarkin and Vader simply because she was a member of the Imperial Senate. In the first film she seems to be more of a collaborator, an agent, than someone in charge and is General Dodona the one giving orders at Yavin 4 Rebel Base in the first film. In 'Empire' she was promoted as General and is in charge of the Echo Base.

Who the fuck cares about a prequel anyway?
Especially when throughout the movie you know EXACTLY what's going to happen at the end? :dunno:

The CGI was awesome. Keeping both of Forrest Whitaker's eyes open throughout the movie was amazing special effects.

Although the first 30 minutes were pretty boring, I liked it a lot. Better than Force Awakens. I didn't like the French guy though.

note that on this deleted beach action scene Jyn has the death star plans in her hand while in the film she just climb to the tower and uploads the transmission.

This movie was subpar. I don't get the high praise. They made Jyn a carbon copy of Rey. We get it. Female lead with British accent. I always thought this movie would be weak since it was literally based off of one line in A New Hope. The action was solid though but the story was weak. I'm not a fan of these side stories and am really dreading the Han Solo TRILOGY. One movie would have been more than enough.

Han Solo trilogy? When that was announced? As far as I know is a one-shot film like 'Rogue One'.
