Hopkins longevity aside, Roy was the better fighter. There's really NO debate whatsoever about that. I also have Roy higher on my all time list.
If you're asking which became a worse freakshow, it's definitely RJJ. Hopkins has still been fighting at championship level though he lost to Kov and Smith. I have purposely not followed RJJ but last I heard he was fighting some fan who won an online contest or some shit like that. Time to hang'em up.
Jones is definitely a sadder case. Hopkins fought at a high level for such a long time. Dude was almost 50 and took a hammering from Kovalev and stayed on his feet. Unlike other fights in which he put on acting jobs, he took his beating like a man and a real champ. I wish he had hung up the gloves after that. The last KO was bad, especially with Hopkins's denial/delusions and insisting he was pushed, but it's nowhere near Jones losing repeatedly in embarrassing fashion to guys he was several levels above in his prime. Jones should have retired in 04'. When Jones suffers embarrassing defeats, it's seems sadder as it's just a case of an old guy refusing to give up. When Hopkins embarrasses himself in the ring, it's less sad and more infuriating because it's Hopkins being a weasel and trying to win fights by DQ

Reed please,.. the more one fights like a bitch, the longer one extends his longevity to our excrutiation. Roy let his hands go for the most part.
That doesnt matter. Obviously Hopkins fought like a bitch and Roy went out in his shield. However, the end was much longer and harder to watch for Roy.
I hope you're aware that when Bob Arum says he has a stable of fighters, he doesn't mean he keeps them with your cousins.
Getting ktfo, falling out of the ring and babbling excuses when it's on tape is humiliating for anyone, but as much as I dislike the roided up purse snatcher there's nothing sad about remaining a serious contender into your 50's and hanging em up when you start losing to guys you shouldn't.
