Is this remake necessary? The original is a great movie.

  3.
What a fucking load of pointless shit.

    Rainmaker nailed it.

Is NOT a remake. It is a SEQUEL.

  5. Irrelevant.
Who the fuck makes a sequel 35 years later?

And you know full-well it'll be shit cos Ridley Scott lost it as a director ages ago.

  6. Panchyprsss

    uh, 'The Force Awakens'?
Ridley Scott is NOT the director, just the producer.

  7. Don't be a dumb cunt.
The Force Awakens is not s fucking sequel, moron.
Its part of an overall series of movies that were just made out of chronological order.
    TERRIBLE example.

  8. It's like Scorsese waiting until the mid-90s and deciding "Hey. I wonder how Travis Bickle would cope dtiving a taxi n NYC now?"

Some movies are just intended to be and remain great as a standalone piece...

Years ago, "Blade Runner" fooled me into thinking it was a great movie. I re-watched it a couple of times recently. The first time, because I was looking forward to seeing it again......the second time because I was trying to convince myself it was better then it was the second time around.

It's got about a 1/2 a dozen really good scenes, and the rest is a fucking chore to watch.

It could have been a way, way better movie if they just concentrated on the storyline with Rutger Hauer and his gang, and cut out the Sean Young character completely. The scenes between her and Harrison Ford were just painful to watch.

I knew it was overhyped even as a child.

No, it is not. The Force Awakens is a direct sequel to 'Return of the Jedi' from 1983 regardless of the trilogy of prequels.

Stop arguing with this troll man. He will be the first in line to see this movie and be the first to give a review.

I'll give it a chance. Ridley Scott is way overdue for a good movie.

Lol well he isn't directed it, but as far as way overdue, he directed the Martian last year which was more than good

  16. Yeah and it'll be an HONEST, OBJECTIVE review as well.

Which is more than I can say for the majority of posters on here....most of whom are fucking TROLLS (inc. the so-called ´Moderators´)

As a child I saw it before the hype, so all I knew was it was boring as fuck. I remember sitting in that theater and it felt like an eternity. My friend had hyped me up to go see it with him and he had to be disappointed. I think afterwards we both pretended it was pretty good, he did so probably to save face, I did so to let him.

I like 'Blade Runner' because it has great visuals, awesome costumes and sets and very atmospheric and the plot is interesting. That said, Ford's performance is atrocious, Scott's direction is lazy and the film rarely gets off the ground as a scifi film noir. Rutger Hauer freaking saves the film as Roy Batty. He should have gotten more screen time than lame Sean Young...or Ford! Very overrated classic that its main contribution was its believable look of the future megapolis that influenced tons of other films.

  23. Blade Runner came out the same month a whole load of other sci-fi movies (ET, Star Trek II, Conan) and in the same weekend as the remake of The Thing - both these movies were disappointments from both critics and box-office yet have gained cult status ever since...

I still remember that summer as the greatest one for moviegoers ever! I mean I was literally watching new releases every freaking weekend! Look at these titles released that summer:

    Mad Max: The Road Warrior
    Rocky III
    E.T.
    Poltergeist
    Conan: The Barbarian
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
    Blade Runner
    The Thing
    Cat People
    Fast Times At Ridgemont High
    TRON
    An Officer and A Gentleman
    Pink Floyd The Wall
    Firefox
    Annie
    The Beastmaster

and those are only the ones I can name at the top of my head!

  25. Yep, I remember too - unheard of!

I also remember summer of 1982 very well because I went through a deep personal crossroads as just three months prior was when I accepted Jesus as my Savior and became a born again Christian. I wanted to devote all my life, every aspect of it, to spread the gospel and honor God. But then all these movies were coming out and I was conflicted if I should continue indulging in wordly mundane pleasures or just abstain totally and be more spiritual. I was in a big dilemma. At the end I just followed the advice of a senior Christian brother who wisely advised me that as long as these things doesn't become an idol in my heart, is not a big deal.
