The Night Of

Really surprised there's no thread of this one because this was an outstanding series. I put this one right up there with The OJ Simpson Story. In fact it's very similar in the way it plays out as you have the story of a young man in trouble with the law and his case is broken down throughout the first few episodes ending with some cool court room drama towards the last few episodes.

John Turtoro who is dealing with a severe case of eczema (dry skin problem) is brilliant in this and his final speech at the end damn near brought me to tears. Every character in this does a great job there is also a good deal of the story that takes place in prison. The pacing, acting, characters and - my personal favorite - dialogue are all top notch, and they even work in some nice comedy. I highly recommend this show and will be looking forward to the second season.

It was a brilliant series for the most part but I hated how it ended. Turtoro, as he always does, turned in some great acting.

Yeah, pretty good. Thought there might have been a thread already to.

Series did have a little trouble keeping up with the high bar set with the very first episode, which was one of the tensest hours of television I can remember.

Well seeing as how you realize later that Turtoro is who the show is really about I imagine it'll be him being the legal representative of another suspect. What exactly the crime will be or center around is anyone's guess. I do hope there'll be a cameo of the kid he helped in the first one all strung out on crack and stuff.

 

I don't think there are any plans for another season. It was only meant to be a one-off.

 

So if you were a juror for a guy on trial for murder and you felt there wasn't enough evidence to convict on the murder charge but felt there was something wrong with the guy. Would you claim him guilty because you think he should be locked up for having something wrong with him?

 

I saw the first episode. It was pretty good, I need to watch the rest of it.

Bodie is an asshole.

 

Finished it, it was very good. Very well shot and acted. John Turturro and Riz Ahmed were excellent, as was Michael K. Williams, whom has that “likable criminal” role down to a tee. He’s a very charismatic actor, although his punching technique was laughable for a character who’s supposed to be a former boxing star.

With this being an HBO show, it shows short clips of Sergey Kovalev fights with Jim Lampley’s commentating.
