Tbh I haven't seen very many. These are the ones I liked best so far but it'll be probably be different in a year or two as I see more

I haven't seen any of these films but it's a good list based on what I've always heard regarding these films.

HOWEVER

Surely it's not possible to have a 50s list without Ben Hur?

 

Never seen ben hur! Or seven samurai which ive heard is amazing

 

You should really see 12 Angry Men. I'd say it has a solid argument for being the best movie ever.

 

Never spoken to anyone who didn't love 12 angry men, it's brilliant. Pretty sure you'd like it sly. I'll watch ben hur this month, you watch 12 angry men, deal?

Damn it, just opened ben hur and its nearly 4 hours long as well! 12 angry men is like 90m I made a sucker deal

 

Ben Hur is an amazing movie.

 

Because they're the only three movied from the 1950s that you've seen?

 

Just like the 1960s and 1970s...way too many to pick for just five.

I'd have to pick at least 30....

 

It's worth it, trust me. I'll be watching 12 angry men probably tomorrow

I was 9 years old when I was forced to watch it instead of the re-run of 'Lost in Space'...I was pissed the whole time.

nah my morals are pretty lax when it comes to internet piracy, i just cant be arsed with it with movies. i'd rather just pay the £1 and not faff about

 

Yeah ben hur is ok. The acting and dialogue is as wooden as a tree and it's about 2 days long but it's easy to follow (seeing as there's basically no complexity, ambiguity or anything else to miss if your attention wanes) and it held my interest. Doesn't make my top 5 tho

 

Yeah it has not aged well... I thought it was okay but it's a bit silly... The Chariot scene is impressively done for the time

 

Alright I havent seen Ben Hur in like 15 years. Am I remembering it wrong?
