Hasn't done anything that would make him 'noticeable' in years.

But it is a tough pick, agreed....my personal favourites:

Gyllenhaal is a superb actor.

I feel he should have won Best Actor for Nightcrawler, but he wasn't even fuckin NOMINATED, which is a crime.

 

Ben Foster's an excellent actor. He'd be a superstar if he had the Hollywood looks of a DiCaprio, Gosling, or Fassbender. But he's an ugly, weird lookin dude so he flies under the radar.

 

Hopkins is 184 years old and semi-retired. I had assumed that this list wouldn't consist of the old men like Hopkins, Deniro, Pacino, Nicholson, Freeman, Walken, ect...

In any case, where's Christian Bale?

 

Gosling is very good. He was Oscar caliber in Blue Valentine, but wasn't nominated.

He was excellent in The Nice Guys. Definitely out-acted old, fat, drunk Crowe.

 

Yeah Bale should definitely be on the list
