Loved this film back in the day. The remake was shit and totally lost the spirit of the first film.

Obviously if I were to watch it back today, the terrible special effects of the time may be difficult to ignore, but the film itself was quality.

    Who else is a fan?

Yeah, I'm a fan of the original. The remake is arguably the worst movie in history.

I like it, but I don't rank it above previous Ray Harryhausen films like the Sinbad films, Jason & the Argonauts (my favorite) and 20 Million Miles to Earth.

This scene of the Talos statue coming to life scared the life out of me when I was 6 years old!

No it's sequel is actually twice as bad as the first. At least the remake had a pretty cool scene fighting the gorgon. The sequel had zero good scenes in it. Zero.

And I loved the original. Went to see it 2 or 3 times at the theater when I was a kid.

To be very honest... I didn't even know that sequel existed until you just mentioned and I looked it up. But I believe you. Looks dreadful.

Great film. The Harryhausen films stand up if you used to be a fan. You can appreciate the stop motion for what it was. I would have loved to see an updated FAITHFUL version of of those films. The CoT remakes were fucking atrocious.

No one has done better Sinbad films than Harryhausen (the animated one was good though, the sole exception).

I loved sinbad growing up. Golden voyage was the best one IMO. That was the one with the centaur vs the griffin at the end. The one with the prince who turned into a monkey and had a troglodyte fighting a Smilodon (sabre toothed cat) at the end was good too
