I generally can't stand Tom Cruise, but this is one of my favorite Cruise movies. Great movie and a really underrated movie in the sci-fi genre.
Tom Cruise is a freak, but he doesn't make too many really bad movies. Even a shitty Tom Cruise action movie is better then 90% of the shit out there, from a production standpoint. Combine him with Spielberg and it's a hard thing to fuck up. ....and I'm saying this as somebody who doesn't give a rats ass about the Mission Impossible or Jack Reacher franchises. They are well made, but just not my cup of tea.
Jack Reacher 1 was actually really good. I didn't see the sequel because I heard it's not worth seeing. I agree about Mission Impossible. I've never really been "into" that franchise, although I have seen a few of them. The original Cruise Mission Impossible, from 96, I thought that was really good. Minority Report IMO is the best Cruise movie of the last 20 years. Collateral and War of The Worlds were very good movies as well.
Don't be hating on Mission Impossible, Xplosive. Don't go there, motherfucker!! Damned good franchise. Tom Cruise just can't make a bad film. We have to give the man his props. As for Minority Report...excellent Cruise film as usual but I wouldn't rank it over Edge of Tomorrow, Oblivion, at least 3 of the Mission Impossibles, or War of the Worlds.
I'm in the MINORITY here as I was not impressed at all with Minority Report, a competent, but ultimately forgettable film.
Considering it has a 90% on your precious Rotten Tomatoes, you are indeed in the minority. MR is an excellent movie. When's the last time you watched it? I thought it was GOOD when it first came out, but I re-watched it recently and realized it's very good.
