Watched last night. EXCELLENT movie! It's a goddamn crime it wasn't nominated for Best Picture. Viggo Mortensen, as always, turned in a brilliant performance.

    8.5/10

Yes, he did. But the movie itself deserved a nomination.

Nah, it's not a superhero movie AT ALL. Very deceiving title. Also deceiving in that posters make it seem like a comedy, and it's anything but.

It's about a family of survivalists (headed by Viggo) who travel out of the wilderness into the "real world" after the mother (Viggo's wife) kills herself and they choose to attend her funeral, against her families wishes.

Viggo is a great actor. He was great in Crimson Tide (and LOTR).

Knowing you...and how much you desire to be seen as a hardcore tough guy adult (to compensate for your erectile dysfunction) ...you're probably referring to History of Violence.

That's your schtick. You try to portray yourself as some tough aggressive savage but I've worked you out. You can't satisfy your young wife and as such you allow her to get banged by the local Brazilian gangbangers. This is what has you grumpy all the time. What's the matter...is Viagra that hard to come by down there?

Yes, Eastern Promises is an excellent movie. As is A History of Violence.

My earliest recollection of Viggo in a movie is Carlito's Way.

You have to understand how Sly is about CT. He probably thinks James Gandolfini deserved an Oscar in that movie.

Denzel/Hackman dominated that movie. No one else stood out at all.

Are you kidding me? He had a PIVOTAL role in that film. Either you haven't seen the film and are just talking out of your ass or you're suffering from dementia.

Actually, you say that in jest....but it's not far from the truth. Gandolfini was EXCELLENT in that film. Superb. Yes Denzel/Hackman dominated...but the supporting cast were excellent also.

The best acting comes when the actor isn't speaking. You, being a film buff should know that.

Nevertheless he was involved in much dialogue.

Gandolfini's character was a warmonger. In an earlier discussion among the officers below decks he was talking about how much he agrees with nuking of Japan and that the US should bomb other countries if they are in opposition (transliterating). Gandolfini is the one who organized the mutiny and freed the Captain. His was another pivotal role.
